Bruno Segre Il Treno della Memoria è nato nel 2005 da un’iniziativa dell’Associazione Terra del Fuoco per dare ai giovani un’opportunità di riflessione e di crescita. Un insegnante e i suoi studenti compiono un viaggio della memoria da Torino ad Auschwitz e Birkenau con tappe a Budapest e a Cracovia, nei luoghi segnati dalla violenza nazista. Un romanzo corale, che si esprime nella forma del frammento, dell’impressione immediata e dell’emozione, dove momenti di riflessione e impegno si alternano con il divertimento e la voglia di comunicare, di essere e di giocare propri dei giovani. Le testimonianze dei ragazzi, rese in forma di scritti sintetici e immediati, costituiscono il controcanto della visione del viaggio del professore: due mondi a confronto, quello dei giovani e quello dell’adulto, due sguardi su un doloroso passato e sui campi di sterminio, ma in generale sull’esperienza dei totalitarismi che hanno straziato il Novecento europeo. Al di là delle analisi e delle considerazioni più documentate che sono state fornite sulla Shoah, le sensazioni visive, le emozioni che scaturiscono spontaneamente nel corso di quest’opera ci restituiscono un’idea più contemporanea e meno vaga dei campi di concentramento nazisti, come monito perché non accada più. Antonio Rinaldis è insegnante di Filosofia in un liceo della provincia di Torino e docente a contratto all’Università di Milano. Ha pubblicato diversi saggi e romanzi, tra i quali: Sacro e Selvaggio in Albert Camus, La bellezza e il male (2008); L’empietà come degenerazione nichilistica del prometeismo (2010); La Parte Nascosta (2013); La Cage Invisible dans l’oeuvre de G. Starting from the central importance of memory in contemporary societies, this book encourages a transdisciplinary reflection on how the “presentification of the past” is never a simple reenactment but corresponds to the interaction between memory and cultural sensitiveness, present beliefs and needs, expectations, and forecasts for the future. It studies cultural (re)construction through collective stories, including academic debates, media narratives, collective mobilizations, state narratives of history, architectural reconstructions, and artistic expressions. It looks at how technological innovations have profoundly changed the practices of conservation and dissemination of collective memory, with particular reference to cultural digitization. Finally, it shows that the relevance and selection of events, the organization of connections and cross-references between past, present, and future, as well as the importance of diversified collective imaginaries are the keys to narrative constructions of memory that prove to be sensitive and decisive for its continuity and its intergenerational transmission.
