Design and Operation of Production Networks for Mass Personalization in the Era of Cloud Technology draws on the latest industry advances to provide everything needed for the effective implementation of this powerful tool. Shorter product lifecycles have increased pressure on manufacturers through the increasing variety and complexity of production, challenging their workforce to remain competitive and profitable. This has led to innovation in production network methodologies, which together with opportunities provided by new digital technologies has fed a rapid evolution of production engineering that has opened new solutions to the challenges of mass personalization and market uncertainty. In addition to the latest developments in cloud technology, reference is made to key enabling technologies, including artificial intelligence, the digital twin, big data analytics, and the internet of things (IoT) to help users integrate the cloud approach with a fully digitalized production system. Presents diverse cases that show how cloud-based technologies can be used in different ways as part of the standard operation of global production networks Provides detailed reviews of new technologies like the digital twin, big data analytics, and blockchain to provide context on the role of cloud technologies in a fully digitalized system Explores future trends for cloud technology and production engineering

Autonomous Driving written by Markus Maurer and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-21 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book takes a look at fully automated, autonomous vehicles and discusses many open questions: How can autonomous vehicles be integrated into the current transportation system with diverse users and human drivers? Where do automated vehicles fall under current legal frameworks? What risks are associated with automation and how will society respond to these risks? How will the marketplace react to automated vehicles and what changes may be necessary for companies? Experts from Germany and the United States define key societal, engineering, and mobility issues related to the automation of vehicles. They discuss the decisions programmers of automated vehicles must make to enable vehicles to perceive their environment, interact with other road users, and choose actions that may have ethical consequences. The authors further identify expectations and concerns that will form the basis for individual and societal acceptance of autonomous driving. While the safety benefits of such vehicles are tremendous, the authors demonstrate that these benefits will only be achieved if vehicles have an appropriate safety concept at the heart of their design. Realizing the potential of automated vehicles to reorganize traffic and transform mobility of people and goods requires similar care in the design of vehicles and networks. By covering all of these topics, the book aims to provide a current, comprehensive, and scientifically sound treatment of the emerging field of “autonomous driving".

Digitalization In Open Economies written by Michael Vogelsang and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-03-20 with Business & Economics categories.

Digital strings are not visible, but affect all economic segments. This book studies the phenomenon of digitalization with the instruments of economics in order to explore the interdependencies between digitalization, economic policy, and macroeconomic variables of open economies. Digitalization is separated into the three components networks, IT services, and digital goods which are then incorporated into macroeconomic models of trade theory in open economies. This approach allows to formally describe the cross-effects between digitalization and macroeconomic variables of a country. Specifically, it is used to analyze interdependencies between macroeconomic variables and networks, IT services, and digital goods, and to determine the challenges of digitalization for economic policy and regulation.

Implementing Industry 4 0 written by Carlos Toro and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-03 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book relates research being implemented in three main research areas: secure connectivity and intelligent systems, real-time analytics and manufacturing knowledge and virtual manufacturing. Manufacturing SMEs and MNCs want to see how Industry 4.0 is implemented. On the other hand, groundbreaking research on this topic is constantly growing. For the aforesaid reason, the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), has created the model factory initiative. In the model factory, manufacturers, technology providers and the broader industry can (i) learn how I4.0 technologies are implemented on real-world manufacturing use-cases, (ii) test process improvements enabled by such technologies at the model factory facility, without disrupting their own operations, (iii) co-develop technology solutions and (iv) support the adoption of solutions at their everyday industrial operation. The book constitutes a clear base ground not only for inspiration of researchers, but also for companies who will want to adopt smart manufacturing approaches coming from Industry 4.0 in their pathway to digitization.

Industrie 4.0 and the Internet of Things have been positioned on the international stage as important initiatives of a promising future: Who is dealing in data from the digital factory? Germany has its “Plattform Industrie 4.0”, China “Made in China 2025” and the USA the “Industrial Internet Consortium”. Who is leading the fourth industrial revolution? The digitalization of industry is changing the global economy and society. Technology is supplying the opportunities to do so. Humans must decide just how far artificial intelligence should go, and what machines should learn – to create new and improved work instead of fewer jobs. In addition to Ulrich Sendler and eight German industry and research experts, the CEO of Xinhuanet in Beijing has also contributed to this book.
