What is inductive Bible study? The word "inductive" refers to the way we process information and come to conclusions. When we think inductively we begin with specific facts and details and then draw general conclusions (interpretations and application) from those details. When we apply this type of thinking to Bible study, we observe the facts of a passage and then derive general principles from those facts. This involves studying the background of the passage, considering the context, understanding the words and grammar, and grasping the author's intention. This study method may be used for private devotions, for a leader's preparation of a Bible study, for a small group's study time together, or for group members' individual preparation before a meeting. You will learn a systematic approach to a limited passage of Scripture (one chapter or a section of eight or ten verses) and accurately and more fully understand what it teaches. You will better understand what is in the Bible because you will have studied it in more depth. You will prepare to study a whole book of the Bible by learning to separate it into its parts and interpret them. You will learn how to think through applications of Scripture after you have interpreted it.While the Student Workbook gives directions on how to do an inductive study, the Leader's Manual contains suggested assignments and supplemental information for a teacher who wants to teach inductive bible study that includes 8 sessions. The book How to Understand Your Bible by T. Norton Sterrett is used as reference in the assignments and instructions.Note: All participants need a copy of How to Understand Your Bible by T. Norton Sterrett, IVP Connect; 03 edition (October 6, 2010).

Following up Robert Traina's classic Methodical Bible Study, this book introduces the practice of inductive Bible study to a new generation of students, pastors, and church leaders. The authors, two seasoned educators with over sixty combined years of experience in the classroom, offer guidance on adopting an inductive posture and provide step-by-step instructions on how to do inductive Bible study. They engage in conversation with current hermeneutical issues, setting forth well-grounded principles and processes for biblical interpretation and appropriation. The process they present incorporates various methods of biblical study to help readers hear the message of the Bible on its own terms.

This study guides the student through the inductive Bible study methodology as a means of valuable training. The study focuses on the message for Philemon and the Christian church in the city of Colossae. The in-depth two week course covers the many dimensions of inductive study and this shorter lesson will challenge beginning or advanced students of the Bible. The study provides several options for the lessons. The student could complete the observation questions followed by application questions, or complete the remainder of the lesson for an in-depth study. Students could also study some of the portions of the lesson beyond the observation questions, including many word studies from the original Greek text. The study also offers a reflective time in Scripture every day addressing the lifestyle of those who follow after Christ and then ends with a time of worship. When a group is meeting weekly to discuss the lessons, each student will benefit from the review discussion suggested by possibilities in the accompanying leaders guide.

Biblical Church Leadership an inductive Bible study through Titus. This study is inductive because it will lead you to observe, interpret and apply what is written in this letter. All you need is a Bible to go along with this book. I recommend you use and ESV study Bible and you can find it online for free at ESV.org. The letter to Titus is part of the 66 books canonized as God's Word. Today we call God's Word, The Bible. This letter was written by the Apostle Paul who was writing to Titus because he was one of the Apostle's closest companions. Titus was a church leader on the island of Crete. He was working to support the house churches that had been planted by establishing a plurality of elders at the churches and fighting against false teachers. I pray that The Holy Spirit convicts you of sin and you embrace the practice of working out your salvation for the glory of God. As you study you will find yourself becoming more passionate about making disciples which is God's mission for every believer. Be passionate and clear as you share your faith and teach all the Jesus Christ has commanded you.
