The long history of tiny matter(s) in the sciences, thought, and culture From catastrophic weather and steady warming caused by the accumulation of carbon particles in the Earth’s atmosphere to societies brought to a standstill by microscopic viruses, the new millennium has reminded us of how the minutest of phenomena can have outsized effects. This notion is one that has preoccupied the European and Anglo-American cultural imaginary since at least early modernity. Milieus of Minutiae brings together an interdisciplinary group of scholars to investigate various forms and appearances of minutiae prior to and beyond the advent of magnification. The collection illuminates connections between the empirical practices and technologies with which minutiae have come to be associated and the broader, more diffuse discourses—from the philosophical to the artistic—that have attended theories of smallness before and after Hooke’s Micrographia. Placing essays on Renaissance poetry, Romantic fiction, and matters of punctuation alongside essays on early modern germ theory and the optics of microscopic technology, this rigorously framed volume extends from sixteenth-century pathology to twentieth-century architectural theory, natural science to literature and art.

You are a conscious intelligent living being, yet you are more than an individual being, since you are an entire living compound made of distinct living beings, all forming you, all contributing to your unique life and existence. Because you are your trillions of living cells, composing your body one after another. And with each cell, you are a zillion subcellular components forming you one molecule at a time and one cell near another, designing or creating your life one fulfilment at a time and one moment of existence after another, animating you from within in this manner, from the smallest subcellular level. Since this is who you are only at the physical, objective level, while all living beings generate, sustain, and coordinate continuously a multitude of intelligent modulations throughout the physical brain and entire body, forming your entire cognition, living intelligent impulses associated to your mind, consciousness, awareness, and intelligence. From the physical perspective of your body, these are simple encoded impulses within your neurons and therefore within your entire mind, and everybody has them, capable to sustain entire inner cognitive instances forming together your cognitive system, your entire mind, in all its thoughts, awareness, feelings, and reactions. But then, from an inner, cognitive perspective, all these physical impulses become alive, making everything possible throughout your mind, organism, life, and entire world, in a living intelligent manner, since these are your intelligences. All your intelligences are aware, conscious, and certainly intelligent, and through their own consciousness and intelligence, they give you your entire mind in all its cognitive abilities, becoming everything that you truly are. More precisely, your intelligences form your mind altogether, since the human mind is their living world, while your intelligences perform the entire cognitive activity within, just for you and for the entire organism. And now, their continuous existence is your life, while their purpose becomes your meaning, achievement, learning, and subsistence. Since among all your intelligences, you are the conscious intelligence yourself, specialized in the coordination of the entire organism in the outside world while fulfilling its needs, or while fulfilling your needs, since it is the same. Because your intelligences have their own specialized tasks and needs, together forming not only your mind, but your entire life, in its entire existence. Yet these are only your own intelligences, the human intelligences, while throughout this book, we focus on all intelligences of the wider world, including these. This book studies all intelligences, from living, cognitive, interconnective, and existential perspectives, throughout a comprehensive classification of everything alive and intelligent, helping you understand yourself, life, intelligence, consciousness, the world, and your conscious place, meaning, and fulfillment in life and in the world.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized stress as the “health epidemic of the twenty-first century.” The facts are alarming: About 70 percent of American are on at least one prescription medication, with antidepressant being the second most common type of drugs; Up to 90 percent of doctors’ visits are for stress-related problems; Nearly 75% of U.S. workers reports experiencing physical and psychological symptoms of stress. How can we fix this? Wearable technologies now have the ability to collect objective biometric data from the hearts of their users and identify—in real time—their emotions; by 2022, 10% of personal device will have emotion AI capabilities. Researchers have found out that variability in the heart rate, known as HRV, is the most reliable biometric data for gaining insight into an individual’s discrete emotional states. Thus, every emotion (such as fear, anger, or joy) has its own signature associated with a unique HRV information pattern. Given recent breakthroughs in science and technology, it’s now possible to build a worldwide token economy that can influence behavior in ways never before possible, throughout the history of humanity. By issuing a digital token each time an individual experiences a positive emotion, I-Coin can monetize the “bits” that come from the hearts of mankind, as different HRV signals are associated with different emotional states. I-Coin reward system literally fosters the development of neurological pathways in the brain that are related to healthy habits. Thus, behaviors that bring positive emotions are reinforced, and unhealthy negative emotions are deterred. I-Coin is the first worldwide behavioral digital currency that enables individuals to monetize the quality of their emotions based on their own biometric data. This can lead to fulfillment of the purpose of humanity: the end of suffering and the pursuit of happiness. In this book, I explain how this token economy will lead to happier, healthier, and more productive citizens. I-Coin has real intrinsic value for individuals, corporations, and the government, and it’s also a natural complement to the existing monetary system.

Movement connects us all. We are all moving, all of the time. The moving body is the foundation of human activity. In a world where technological advancement allows for instant global connections, we are becoming increasingly disembodied. This gives rise to “dis-ease” in our physical, emotional and intellectual selves. This book promotes increased awareness of the power and potential of human movement. It takes into account personal uniqueness, as well as the universal aspects of what it means to be human. This book is for every body. In order to experience life to its fullest, it is important to keep in touch with our moving selves. It is not a “how-to” book. We are not advocating a specific movement technique or practice. It is about re-discovering that you are a mover and that movement is not just an activity. Our movement is the expression of ourselves in the world. This second edition includes expanded chapters and appendices further explicating the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS) for the benefit of students in movement analysis training programs. The text’s additions also serve as a testimony to the ongoing development of this system.

The Analyst In The Inner City Second Edition written by Neil Altman and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-08-24 with Medical categories.
In 1995, Neil Altman did what few psychoanalysts did or even dared to do: He brought the theory and practice of psychoanalysis out of the cozy confines of the consulting room and into the realms of the marginalized, to the very individuals whom this theory and practice often overlooked. In doing so, he brought together psychoanalytic and social theory, and examined how divisions of race, class and culture reflect and influence splits in the developing self, more often than not leading to a negative self image of the "other" in an increasingly polarized society. Much like the original, this second edition of The Analyst in the Inner City opens up with updated, detailed clinical vignettes and case presentations, which illustrate the challenges of working within this clinical milieu. Altman greatly expands his section on race, both in the psychoanalytic and the larger social world, including a focus on "whiteness" which, he argues, is socially constructed in relation to "blackness." However, he admits the inadequacy of such categorizations and proffers a more fluid view of the structure of race. A brand new section, "Thinking Systemically and Psychoanalytically at the Same Time," examines the impact of the socio-political context in which psychotherapy takes place, whether local or global, on the clinical work itself and the socio-economic categories of its patients, and vice-versa. Topics in this section include the APA’s relationship to CIA interrogation practices, group dynamics in child and adolescent psychotherapeutic interventions, and psychoanalytic views on suicide bombing. Ranging from the day-to-day work in a public clinic in the South Bronx to considerations of global events far outside the clinic’s doors (but closer than one might think), this book is a timely revision of a groundbreaking work in psychoanalytic literature, expanding the import of psychoanalysis from the centers of analytical thought to the margins of clinical need.

In The Anzaldúan Theory Handbook AnaLouise Keating provides a comprehensive investigation of the foundational theories, methods, and philosophies of Gloria E. Anzaldúa. Through archival research and close readings of Anzaldúa’s unpublished and published writings, Keating offers a biographical-intellectual sketch of Anzaldúa, investigates her writing process and theory-making methods, and excavates her archival manuscripts. Keating focuses on the breadth of Anzaldúa’s theoretical oeuvre, including Anzaldúa’s lesser-known concepts of autohistoria y autohistoria-teoría, nos/otras, geographies of selves, and El Mundo Zurdo. By investigating those dimensions of Anzaldúa’s theories, writings, and methods that have received less critical attention and by exploring the interconnections between these overlooked concepts and her better-known theories, Keating opens additional areas of investigation into Anzaldúa’s work and models new ways to “do” Anzaldúan theory. This book also includes extensive definitions, genealogies, and explorations of eighteen key Anzaldúan theories as well as an annotated bibliography of hundreds of Anzaldúa’s unpublished manuscripts.

When you live your life in fear and scarcity from one day to another, and when your awareness spans two channels on your TV, you may perceive and understand society from one political party to the next and from one conspiracy to another. While your own servitude, ignorance, compliance, and subjection span the world, since it is the case with everyone else, forming in this manner the extraordinary conspiracy shaping and reshaping everything continuously, the Human Conspiracy. Because those who killed presidents and royalty throughout history, those who control stock markets, wars, oil fields, and alphabet agencies, and those who weaken and decimate humanity whenever they find it necessary are the same, acting on the same comprehensive conspiracy alongside you, while forming the Human Conspiracy. Because it never matters who rules the world and through what schemes, since they cannot do so without your help and compliance. While you agree and conspire making everything happen, you even take control sometimes along with everybody else, and when conspirators cannot abuse you anymore, you take them down to bring in their place others who can. This is the Human Conspiracy and it always relates to you, since it is meant for action, compliance, and perfect integration. It is the lack of reaction to everything dreadful that those in control do to you and to the world, as it is based on your continuous acceptance along with your continuous ridicule and rejection of those who do not abide. Because it is your passivity making all social schemes and conspiracies possible, and so you keep them coming, indefinitely. It is not their proclaimed effort, ingenuity, strength, and influence to matter, but it is your conspiracy to accept everything coming your way, as you endure and take it diligently, expecting more. And now you see the world that you create, you still cherish and smile while you suffer, you still condemn those who complain, as you know that is wrong but you want to be safe, and so you endure and cherish in ignorance. Because you conspire just to keep yourself covered, you gather the crumbs and you never complain, and this is the greatest conspiracy of all times, the Human Conspiracy. Throughout this book, we identify, model, and understand how the Human Conspiracy takes place on all social levels, building this background comprehensive conspiracy capable to follow authorities alongside everything that they implement, control, and exploit in the world, while we focus on all premises and consequences, in all details, and from all perspectives.
