Es beschäftigt sich damit, wie man auf der Basis von neuem technologischem Wissen neue Produkte und Dienstleistungen in den Markt bringen kann. Von solchen Neuerungen sind alle Bereiche eines Unternehmens betroffen. Letztendlich repräsentiert Innovationsund Technologiemanagement eine Querschnittsfunktion von der Forschung und Entwicklung als Produktionsfunktion über die Vermarktung von Innovationen als Absatzfunktion bis hin zur Organisation, Finanzierung und Controlling von Innovationen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll nun das Innovations- und Technologiecontrolling im Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung stehen. Der Erfolg einer Innovation hängt nicht nur von der angestrebten Realisierung technologisch und strategisch orientierter Zielsetzungen ab, sondern wird zudem maßgeblich davon beeinflusst, ob es gelingt, die unterschiedlichen Aktivitäten eines Innovationsprozesses zielgerichtet zu koordinieren. Die Steuerung von Innovationen schafft dabei Möglichkeiten und Grenzen zugleich. Einerseits müssen die organisatorischen Rahmenbedingungen geschaffen werden, damit sich innovative Kräfte entfalten können. Andererseits müssen jedoch diese Handlungsspielräume durch Planungs- und Kontrollinstrumente eingegrenzt werden, um der Gefahr der Unwirtschaftlichkeit entgegenzuwirken. Ohne die Überwachung der Innovationsprozesse kann es zu Kostenexplosionen und Terminüberschreitungen mit erheblichen negativen Auswirkungen des ökonomischen Innovationserfolges kommen. Es ist folglich von zentraler Bedeutung für das Innovations- und Technologiecontrolling, den „Fit“ zwischen den Instrumenten der Innovationsförderung und Innovationsüberwachung zu finden und den entsprechenden Instrumenten-Mix zum Einsatz zu bringen. Vor dem Hintergrund der aufgezeigten Problemstellung besteht das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit in der Entwicklung einer geeigneten Controllingkonzeption zur Erhöhung der Effektivität und Effizienz, sowie zur Sicherstellung der Entwicklungs- und Anpassungsfähigkeit des Innovations- und Technologiemanagements. Um die Ziele des Controllings zu operationalisieren und die Wirkungen der Organisationsstrukturen in Abhängigkeit relevanter Kontextfaktoren zu ermitteln, ist ein geeignetes Kennzahlensystem für Unternehmen zu entwickeln.
