The 21st century business arena demands a different kind of leader. With structural change cycles occurring at dizzying speeds and "Black Swan" events disrupting us with increasing frequency, we now live in a world where change is the only constant, and past experience is no longer a good predictor of future success. Today's leaders must be willing to step out of their comfort zones, challenge their personal assumptions, and rapidly adjust their worldview when faced with new information. But that is not all. As leaders reimagine themselves, they must also be able to inspire their people to come with them towards new and sometimes uncertain horizons. Whether you are a grizzled veteran looking to hone your craft, or a budding manager just starting to earn your stripes, this book might be an excellent addition to your toolkit. It provides a four-step framework to transform your organization into a focused, empowered, and engaged army that moves with speed and actively assists you with navigating change and disruption. This book is written as a hands-on learning experience. It will push you to examine your leadership style and enact changes through real-life experiments. This approach of "learning by doing" is based on techniques the author used extensively during his career. Are you ready to join him on a journey of personal exploration?

A major problem in the local church today is lack of leadership. Simply put, we have more needs than we have leaders to meet those needs. So, how do we train better leaders faster? The truth is, very few churches really have a well-thought-out leadership development plan. Growth requires continually adding healthy new leaders, who carry the church culture forward and embody its core values. Everyone knows it, but how do we achieve it? In Empowering Leadership author and leadership consultant Michael Fletcher says leaders like this can't simply be bought, nor can they be hired from someone else's leadership assembly line. Developing leaders at every level, to create an environment that attracts potential leaders, and to build better leaders faster, an organization needs more than a pipeline. It needs a culture that develops leaders organically. Finding the right kind of leaders to guide your church on a path of continual growth comes out of keeping the right focus, and that focus is not just on the leaders. In fact, as Fletcher says, It isn't about the leader. It never was about the leader. It will never be about the leader. It will always and only be about Jesus and his people. It's about the people. True leadership development includes the often messy, but necessary, interaction of life upon life. So hiring pastors and key staff roles from within the church is the very best policy—people who "breathe" the culture of the church and who have helped create the culture you want to maintain. If your church or organization needs a good leadership development structure, then you're holding the right book. Empowering Leadership details Michael's greatest insights on how to build better leaders faster by creating a leadership development culture in your church or organization—naturally, organically, continually. Empower your church or organization through great leadership. This book will show you how!

"Unleashed is worth an afternoon of your time, whether or not you are already a leader. It is sparkily written and personal, drawing on the experiences of co-authors (and spouses) Frei and Morriss."— Financial Times Leadership isn't easy. It takes grit, courage, and vision, among other things, that can be hard to come by on your toughest days. When leaders and aspiring leaders seek out advice, they're often told to try harder. Dig deeper. Look in the mirror and own your natural-born strengths and fix any real or perceived career-limiting deficiencies. Frances Frei and Anne Morriss offer a different worldview. They argue that this popular leadership advice glosses over the most important thing you do as a leader: build others up. Leadership isn't about you. It's about how effective you are at empowering other people—and making sure this impact endures even in your absence. As Frei and Morriss show through inspiring stories from ancient Rome to present-day Silicon Valley, the origins of great leadership are found, paradoxically, not in worrying about your own status and advancement, but in the unrelenting focus on other people's potential. Unleashed provides radical advice for the practice of leadership today. Showing how the boldest, most effective leaders use a special combination of trust, love, and belonging to create an environment in which other people can excel, Frei and Morriss offer practical, battle-tested tools—based on their work with companies such as Uber, Riot Games, WeWork, and others—along with interviews and stories from their own personal experience, to make these ideas come alive. This book is your indispensable guide for unleashing greatness in other people . . . and, ultimately, in yourself. To learn more, please visit theleadersguide.com.

As modern organizations seek for changes to enhance their competitive positions and their survivability in global markets, the successful implementation of organizational change has become an important management task. But still, many companies are unable to succeed in change processes. Failures show that there is considerable room for researchers to provide insights into opportunities for improving the success of organizational change events. Given the fact that individuals are the most important units in organizational change, a successful implementation requires employees’ acceptance and support. Hence, employees ́ positive attitudes and their Work Engagement are considered to be fundamental requirements. Nevertheless, there is limited understanding of the multitudinous factors associated with employees ́ decision to support organizational change. Basically, organizational change is stressful as it requires the readiness to embrace change and the readjustment of employees’ routine tasks. In this regard, leadership is considered to be one of the most important variables affecting the attitudinal dimension of organizational processes. In respect of the types of leadership behavior and their exchange relationship with followers, several reviews and meta-analyses have shown that Empowering Leadership can result in individual, group and unit performance beyond expectations. Empowering Leadership implies sharing power to foster employees’ motivation and engagement in their work. Empowering Leadership emerges when supervisors foster trust-based relationships with followers, show interest in their personal problems, facilitate participative decision-making and coach them to be more self-reliant. These specifications show that this leadership style is highly relevant to Employee Work Engagement. However, relatively few studies have tested how and why Empowering Leadership relates to Follower Work Engagement in organizational change environments.
