Due to the heterogeneity of clinical manifestations, the diagnosis, monitoring, and risk stratification of large vessel vasculitis (LVV) can pose a challenge. As a result of technological progress in recent decades, a variety of non-invasive imaging modalities now play a crucial role in managing LVV. Ultrasound (US), 18-FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and CT have proven useful in managing giant cell arteritis (GCA) and Takayasu arteritis (TAK). The aim of this Research Topic is to compile a collection of articles that provide new insights and potential applications of imaging, especially but not limited to US, FDG-PET/CT, MRI, and CT, in the management of GCA, TAK, and isolated aortitis. The collection aims to cover various aspects, such as diagnosis, disease monitoring, defining remission, and risk stratification.

New Insights Into Brain Imaging Methods For Rehabilitation Of Brain Diseases written by Guang-qing Xu and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-28 with Science categories.

Brain diseases such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease cause dysfunction in multiple body systems. Motor dysfunction, cognitive impairment, dysphagia, and emotion disorders are frequently observed in patients with brain diseases. As the dysfunctions are associated with alterations in the brain, brain imaging methods such as functional MRI (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are essential for investigating the neural mechanisms underlying the dysfunction caused by brain diseases. Brain imaging methods are also critical for understanding the neural mechanisms for the effectiveness of therapeutic or rehabilitative interventions that promote recovery from brain diseases. The usage of these brain imaging methods would deepen our understanding of brain diseases and potentially translate this knowledge to improve effectiveness of rehabilitative interventions for brain diseases.

Live Imaging In Zebrafish Insights Into Development And Disease written by Karuna Sampath and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-08-30 with Science categories.

The zebrafish embryo has now been well established as an organism of choice for the genetic and cell biological basis of vertebrate development. Large-scale forward genetic screens together with reverse genetic tools have resulted in a flood of new information on the regulation of vertebrate development. Furthermore, the unique transparency of the zebrafish embryo allows unprecedented access to cells and tissues and many important discoveries on gene function have already been made using live imaging techniques in this organism. This book successfully brings together state-of-the-art methodologies of live imaging, such as the use of fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), that will be useful for investigators in the field of developmental biology to address their favorite problem using cell biological approaches in the zebrafishOne of the key reasons that has made the zebrafish such a popular vertebrate model is its transparency and its potential for high-resolution cell biology and imaging. However, there is no comprehensive and up-to-date guide to the new “live imaging” tools that can now be used in the zebrafish. Furthermore, there are many new microscopy methods that have been adapted for use in zebrafish, and this book can be a good guide even for scientists already familiar with the imaging advantages of this model.

Foreword by Walter Wink In recent years theologians and biblical scholars have begun to delve into the insights that come from the application of psychology to biblical texts. While these methods continue to be useful and popular, nowhere have the "foundational" texts in the field been collected. Wayne Rollins and Andrew Kille, who have both published and taught widely in the area of psychological biblical criticism, have assembled an excellent guide for those interested in this fascinating topic. Included in this anthology are articles from across the landscape, spanning over one hundred years and including such authors as Franz Delitzsch, M. Scott Fletcher, Max Weber, Walter Wink, and many other scholars.

Multimodal Insights Into Translation And Interpreting Studies written by Didem Tuna Küçük and has been published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-10 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

``Multimodal Insights into Translation and Interpreting Studies'' sets out to provide a stimulating discussion and an integrated display of information as a reflection of a range of theoretical approaches in translation and interpreting studies. Over recent years the field has expanded considerably, and the scholars of translation and interpreting studies have initiated the proliferation of new concepts, strategies, and approaches resulting from the ongoing contact and communication of translation and interpreting studies with a variety of disciplines. To illustrate the diverse spectrum of translation and interpreting both as a scholarly praxis and a professional field of expertise making strides on the continuum of professionalization from the perspective of the sociology of professions, the book is divided thematically into three parts: discussions on semiotics of translation, paratextual and peritextual analysis in literary translation, and professionalization of translation and interpreting. Serving the multimodality aspect, the book is designed to embody contemporary understandings and innovative thinking within the well-established research area of literary translation on the one hand and the sociological approach to translation as a relatively recent phenomenon that has become a salient field of study as of 90s onwards in translation and interpreting studies on the other.

Computational Neuroscience Theoretical Insights Into Brain Function written by Paul Cisek and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-11-14 with Medical categories.

Computational neuroscience is a relatively new but rapidly expanding area of research which is becoming increasingly influential in shaping the way scientists think about the brain. Computational approaches have been applied at all levels of analysis, from detailed models of single-channel function, transmembrane currents, single-cell electrical activity, and neural signaling to broad theories of sensory perception, memory, and cognition. This book provides a snapshot of this exciting new field by bringing together chapters on a diversity of topics from some of its most important contributors. This includes chapters on neural coding in single cells, in small networks, and across the entire cerebral cortex, visual processing from the retina to object recognition, neural processing of auditory, vestibular, and electromagnetic stimuli, pattern generation, voluntary movement and posture, motor learning, decision-making and cognition, and algorithms for pattern recognition. Each chapter provides a bridge between a body of data on neural function and a mathematical approach used to interpret and explain that data. These contributions demonstrate how computational approaches have become an essential tool which is integral in many aspects of brain science, from the interpretation of data to the design of new experiments, and to the growth of our understanding of neural function.• Includes contributions by some of the most influential people in the field of computational neuroscience• Demonstrates how computational approaches are being used today to interpret experimental data• Covers a wide range of topics from single neurons, to neural systems, to abstract models of learning
