Há a tendência de crer com facilidade que movimentos ditatoriais de direita entre os anos de 1920-1940 fossem, quase automaticamente, fascistas. E aqueles existentes no período dos fascismos, mas que tiveram suas bases e mantiveram coerência e fidelidade a elas nos anos 1910, ou até mesmo nos finais do século XIX? E os movimentos conservadores, com repúdio a mobilização de massas, porém, firmados nas correntes de extrema-direita? Seriam todos fascistas? A proposta do presente livro é justamente trazer a complexidade das análises sobre o Integralismo Lusitano (existente oficialmente entre 1914 e 1932) e a Ação Integralista Brasileira (1932-1937), movimentos que obviamente mantiveram contato e sofreram influências dos fascismos, ênfase ao italiano. Todavia, o contato não é suficiente para inseri-los nos grupos de países chefiados por Itália e Alemanha de Mussolini e de Hitler. Por isso, é importante rastrear a composição teórica e ideológica do Integralismo Lusitano e da Ação Integralista Brasileira, observando contatos e rastreando diálogos com outras correntes de pensamento, para somente depois tirarmos conclusões sobre a natureza dos movimentos em questão.
