Uma nova tradução de 2024 da obra inicial de Martin Heidegger "Introdução à Fenomenologia da Religião" (título original em alemão "Einleitung in Die Phanomenologie der Religion"), publicada originalmente em 1921. Esta edição contém um novo posfácio do tradutor, uma cronologia da vida e da obra de Heidegger, um índice filosófico dos principais conceitos heideggerianos e um guia terminológico para os existencialistas dos séculos XIX e XX. Esta tradução foi concebida para facilitar a leitura e a acessibilidade à filosofia enigmática e densa de Heidegger. Os termos filosóficos complexos e específicos são traduzidos o mais literalmente possível e as notas de rodapé académicas foram retiradas para garantir uma leitura fácil. No semestre de inverno de 1920/21, na Universidade de Freiburg, Heidegger proferiu uma conferência intitulada "Introdução à Fenomenologia da Religião". Embora o manuscrito original da palestra se tenha perdido, cinco conjuntos de notas de estudantes (Oskar Becker, Helene Weiß, Franz-Josef Brecht e outros) permitiram uma reconstrução parcial da palestra. As notas revelam que a conferência de Heidegger pode ser dividida em duas partes distintas, separadas por um hiato em 30 de novembro de 1920, devido a objecções não especificadas. As notas de Oskar Becker, em particular, indicam a interrupção e a passagem de uma "Introdução metódica" para uma "Explicação fenomenológica de fenómenos religiosos concretos". Este trabalho é em grande parte exegético, pois examina passagens bíblicas utilizando uma série de textos, utilizando uma série de traduções e traçando as ligeiras diferenças, incluindo o Novum Testamentum Graece cum apparatu critico ex editionibus et libris de Erasmo, utilizado por Melanchthon. Heidegger utiliza a sua metodologia fenomenológica distintiva para desconstruir a experiência religiosa, analisando os seus elementos fundamentais e o seu significado para a existência humana. Aventura-se para além da investigação teológica tradicional, integrando dimensões fenomenológicas, psicológicas e históricas para explorar a natureza da religião. A abordagem de Heidegger não é uma catalogação de crenças ou práticas religiosas, mas sim um exame aprofundado da natureza da experiência religiosa, do seu impacto na consciência humana e do seu significado existencial. Esta obra é emblemática do projeto filosófico mais amplo de Heidegger, que procura compreender a natureza fundamental do Ser, do Dasein e da Existência através do exame de várias experiências humanas, incluindo a religião. A influência de Kierkegaard é palpável nesta obra, na sua rejeição da linha de pensamento empirista positivista inglesa.

Associando-se a um amplo movimento comemorativo europeu e norte-americano, o Instituto de Estudos Filosóficos, com sede na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, em colaboração com a unidade de I&D L.I.F. – Linguagem, Interpretação e Filosofia e com o “Centro de Filosofia” da Universidade de Lisboa organizou nos dias 19 e 20 de Novembro de 2007 um Congresso Internacional comemorativo dos 200 anos da Fenomenologia do Espírito de G. W. F. Hegel, obra publicada inicialmente em 1807. Por ocasião deste congresso, a comunidade filosófica portuguesa teve a grata oportunidade de se confrontar com algumas das mais recentes orientações de análise da obra do filósofo, pondo-se a si mesma à prova quanto às suas aptidões analíticas. Aqui se deixa o retrato de um tal encontro, tanto quanto possível fiel ao que foram, na altura, as exposições dos diferentes autores. In conjunction with a broad commemorative movement in Europe and America, the Institute for Philosophical Studies, based at the Faculty of Letters, University of Coimbra, in collaboration with the R&D unit L.I.F. – Language, Interpretation and Philosophy and with the “Centre for Philosophy” of the University of Lisbon organized on 19th and 20th November 2007 an international conference commemorating the 200th anniversary of Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit (first published in 1807). On the occasion of this conference, the Portuguese philosophical community had the opportunity to come up against some of the most recent orientation in the analysis of this philosopher’s oeuvre, putting itself to the test as regards its analytical skills. This volume offers a picture of that encounter, as faithful as possible to what were, at the time, the papers offered by/expositions of the various authors.

Drawing on a range of historical and literary texts, this book examines how Black women under the yoke of slavery negotiated their sense of belonging and spirituality from a liminal position, stuck between a new life in the Americas, and their connections to their African ancestral roots and a wider diasporic community. The book investigates how Black women in the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, the United States, and Brazil turned to their spiritual beliefs as a tool of resilience and resistance.
