Research on intuition is known for its numerous conceptualizations of intuition construct proposed by various theoretical camps for more than a century. In addition to this absence of a consensus over the definition, almost none of the many instruments developed over the years have been successful in measuring intuition especially in light of the findings of recent interdisciplinary research regarding crucial aspects of intuitive behavior. This is mainly because processes underlying intuitive decisions elude conscious awareness and therefore, remain unidentifiable. This elusiveness has in turn resulted in theories basing their objective measurement efforts on what intuition is not rather than what it is. This dissertation is an attempt to address this theoretical/conceptual problem by conducting three studies . The first two are replication studies of two well-cited instruments, the waterloo gestalt closure task (WGCT) and the rational-experiential inventory (REI). Aside from popularity, the mainstream theoretical framework on which they are based - dual-system theories of mind - was pivotal in their selection for replication. In the third theoretical study, attempts were made to address the issues revealed by the two empirical studies by analyzing the nature of responses and the overall factor structure of subjects' data collected by both measures. The results revealed that the wholetheme spiral of biofunctional understanding presents itself to be a fit model for the data, explaining a significant proportion of variation especially when it comes to subjects' intuitive performance on both WGCT and REI. At the end, implications offered by the biofunctional theory of intuitive understanding as a unifying and comprehensive theoretical framework for research on intuition are discussed, particularly as it relates to the discipline of educational psychology. Welcome to this book about intuition and prophecy. My first book on the Topic was over ten years ago and is titled “Prophecy: A History and How to Guide”. That one was a general overview of the topic. This book is much more focused on how intuition and prophecy skills can be used to improve your life. So what are intuition and prophecy and why are they important? These two things are spiritual abilities which we all have and which allow us to see outside of the present. Like athletes some of us have more natural abilities than others. However, we can train and exercise our abilities to improve our lives. Prophecy is a more advanced form of intuition and has been used throughout history. Intuition is more about being immediately aware of what or who is around us while Prophecy is focused specifically on the future. While intuition is more immediate it too can be very useful. In fact all spiritual abilities can help or hinder our lives. This is true of any physical or mental abilities. I’ve also included a lot of information on the history of prophecy and research into the paranormal to show that people have been aware of these subjects throughout history and in modern times they have been researched by scientists. Lastly, I want to say that like learning anything new there are things to watch out for, but like all things we do there are risks and rewards. This book examines and analyses the legitimacy of the widely held claim that Mulla Sadra's philosophy (al-hikmah al-muta'aliyyah) is a synthesis of principles and doctrines drawn from revelation (wahy), gnosis ('irfan/ma'rifah) and discursive philosophy (al-hikmah al-bahthiyyah). In Mulla Sadra's view, these three major sources of knowledge can be brought together without contradiction and accorded their respective roles in the human quest for true and certain knowledge. This book discusses and demonstrates how Mulla Sadra achieves this synthesis as contained in and exemplified by his text, al-Hikmah al-'arshiyyah or Wisdom from the Divine Throne. An evaluation on whether or not Mulla Sadra's synthesis is successful is also undertaken. The criteria used for the evaluation are the internal coherence of his ideas, their conformity to Islamic teachings and impact on Islamic thinkers after him.
