Die Arbeit thematisiert die Hegelsche Philosophie des Seins und geht der Frage nach, inwiefern Simmel diese verwendet und damit umgeht. Die kontroversen Auffassungen und philosophischen Theorien innerhalb der Seins- und Werdens-Philosophie sind enorm und reichen von Immanuel Kant und Johann Gottlieb Fichte bis zu Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. Diese Arbeit wird hinsichtlich der Frage untersucht, inwiefern Georg Simmel in der Tradition Hegels steht. Dazu wird vorerst die Auseinandersetzung und Darstellung Hegels in Simmels „Hauptprobleme der Philosophie“ untersucht und erläutert. Daraufhin wird das Ergebnis dieser Untersuchung in den Zusammenhang mit Simmels Idee einer „philosophischen Kultur“ gesetzt. Abschließend wird der Bezug zu Simmels Hauptanliegen in „Hauptprobleme der Philosophie“ hergestellt, um die Leitfrage dieser Arbeit letztlich beantworten und Georg Simmels Werk hinsichtlich dieser, verstehen zu können.

Jahrhunderts, Note: 1,0, Universität Erfurt (Philosophische Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Georg Simmel: Einleitung in die Moralwissenschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Titel der ethischen Abhandlung „Einleitung in die Moralwissenschaft“ von Georg Simmel (1858-1918) unterscheidet sich bereits in einer Begrifflichkeit von anderen Werken zur Ethik. Der Begriff „Moralwissenschaft“ kennzeichnet weder eine besondere normative Ethik, noch eine moralische Methodik. Der Inhalt des zweibändigen Werkes verleiht dem Untertitel „Kritik der ethischen Grundbegriffe“ seine volle Berechtigung. An dieser Stelle stellt sich die Frage, aus welchen Motiven heraus Simmel diese Grundbegriffe kritisiert und in ihre Bestandteile zerlegt. Wohlbedacht erörtert er dies in seinem Vorwort. Er konstatiert, dass die Ethik zu seiner Zeit noch nicht methodisch ausgearbeitet ist. Sie beruft sich auf erfundene Prinzipien, welche sich eher mit Moralpredigt, als mit sittlicher Geltung identifizieren. Dabei geht Simmel so weit, dass er selbst den Begriff der Ethik den Status der Wissenschaft aberkennt. Mit dieser Erkenntnis ist er bereits ein Vorreiter des heutigen ethischen Grundverständnisses: Die heutigen Bereichsethiken, wie beispielsweise die Tierethik, sind Indikatoren für die Tatsache, dass bereits nicht mehr von einer universalen Ethik gesprochen werden kann. An den vorangegangen Punkten wird die folgende Ungewissheit erkennbar: Wo bleibt das Positive? Simmel schrieb eine deskriptive Moralwissenschaft, welche Ethik nicht als eine Einheit begreift, sondern auf mehreren Ebenen untersucht: psychologisch, soziologisch, historisch, evolutionstheoretisch, geltungstheoretisch und analytisch. Die Ethik an sich ist seiner Meinung nach inkonsistent, da sie weder praktisch ist, noch den Menschen versittlicht. „Praktisch versittlichend wird freilich eine demenstsprechende positive Ethik nicht wirken, der das Gute wie das Böse ein gleichmässig gleichgiltiges Objekt blosser genetischer Erkenntnis ist“. Die Durchführung exakter Einzeluntersuchungen ist laut Simmel von Nöten.
