Ischia is the largest island in the Bay of Naples. The Castle, built by Alphonso V of Aragon in the fifteenth century, is distant 16 miles from the Punta di Posillipo, and 20 miles from the Mole of Naples; it is famous in Italian annals for its long association with the noble poetess Vittoria Colonna, Marchioness of Pescara. Mount Epomeo, the Epopos of the Greeks, the Epopeus of the Latin poets, rises near the centre of the island. The ancient fable made Ischia the bed of Typhoeus. Ischia, called Aenaria, Inarime, and Pithecusa by the ancients, was populated in earliest times by a colony composed partly of Erythraeans and partly of Chalcidicans: they fixed their home where now stands the village of Lacco Ameno, one of the most beautifully picturesque of the whole island. Strabo, Pliny, Statius and other authors mention the therapeutic virtues of the hot springs of Ischia. The number of foreigners, travellers and Neapolitan gentlemen attending Ischia is very considerable.

This work offers a unique perspective on a most beloved place: Ischia. "ISCHIA, the island of cinematography: a sociological study on its societal development" investigates how cinematography succeeded in activating the transformation of the "green island", a rural, impoverished island, into a modern, tourist destination. Events that are historical and sociological in nature are described with the enriching support of stories, anecdotes and local flairs gleaned from the shared memory of the Ischitans. This investigation seeks to understand the dynamics responsible for the transformation of this specific societal environment by identifying both the influential social changes and economic and cultural factors.

The city of Naples, located on the south-western shores of Italy, is the third largest city in the country, and one of the richest regarding history. But despite its incredible past that extends to its first foundations as far back as the 9th Century BC, it is often overlooked by tourists who rarely venture here from nearby Rome. But with so much to offer travelers, it’s about time Naples was given the attention it deserves. Panoramic Vista As landscapes and views go, the Bay of Naples is hard to beat. The curvature of the marina extends around the coastline until it meets the towering figure of Mount Vesuvius in the nearby National Park. The sea is beautifully clear, and it’s a well-tended, cared for place. The good looks of the city have lent themselves to the lyrics of songs written about it, with the Neapolitan Torna a Sorrento (Come Back to Sorrento), being one of the most popular. Museums and Churches of Naples Naples is a museum in itself, and within the city, boundaries lie many churches, museums and historical sites ready to captivate travelers. The Duomo (cathedral) of San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples, is one of the most visually spectacular in the region, while the Cappella di Santa Restituta is one of the country’s oldest surviving churches. And for lovers of the Baroque-style architecture, a visit to the church San Giuseppe dei Ruffi is a fascinating visit. Pizza Naples is considered to be the birthplace of pizza, with its origins dating back to the 16th Century. The different sauces that top the pizza each have a different story. The Margherita is reported to have been created in 1889 for the then Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy. Back then it was just a topping of seasoned tomatoes, but that has since evolved to include white mozzarella cheese and green basil to replicate the colors of the Italian flag. This guide leads you in a visit to Naples and the islands of Capri, Ischia, and Procida. It also covers the ruins of Pompeii and the Royal Palace of Caserta. It includes color photos and descriptions of the attractions of all the localities touched, as well as info on Campania’s cuisine and recipes. It has plenty of practical advice on travel to reach the islands and how to move once you are there. It is ideal for use on your smartphone as it contains active links to the websites of many reviews for the best-recommended restaurants that are at the location described. Ischia is a portrait of an unnamed narrator and her friends: wandering through the margins of different cities, especially Buenos Aires, they search for purpose in an increasingly uncertain world. An intricate, gutsy, and raw novel, Ischia is populated with outsiders who navigate the vicissitudes of life in Argentina and the world. Ischia, the female narrator, is the youngest in a family of seven brothers and relates her experiences as she waits for a ride to the airport. Told through dizzying would-have, could-have conditionals, Ischia overlaps and blurs the past, present, and future of three young characters defined by lack of certainty or expectation. These three lives unfold between disenchantment and humor, and the narration transports readers into a world of memories, desires, and dreams. The novel advances lyrically through themes both solemn and lighthearted, shaping the contours of imagined, hilarious, and surreal experiences.
