La diversidad juvenil, que en principio parece obvia, no ha sido considerada como tal por expertos e instancias responsables de la investigación sobre los jóvenes, sobre todo, no en la medida que sería necesario y pertinente. Han proliferado y proliferan por doquier un sinfín de informes y estudios sobre el ámbito juvenil (principalmente cuantitativos, descriptivos, unidimensionales) que tienden a soslayar, obviar y/o descuidar la complejidad y la heterogeneidad de este colectivo. Lo propio se podría decir de la nula o escasa conceptualización, así como la insuficiente fundamentación teórica que viene recibiendo este objeto de estudio por parte de las ciencias sociales. Este libro se nos presenta como un intento de superar estas deficiencias o lagunas teórico-metodológicas. Con este punto de partida, el autor analiza, de forma crítica, sistemática y comprehensiva, la articulación de tres importantes y específicas dimensiones de la realidad social: los jóvenes, el trabajo y la identidad. A través de una aproximación psicosociológica y aplicando una metodología de corte fundamentalmente cualitativa, se aborda la centralidad del trabajo en los jóvenes (concepciones, significados, percepciones, discursos) y la incidencia/determinación/influencia de este fenómeno en el proceso de construcción de identidad juvenil. C’est fut un grand plaisir d’accueillir à Québec les universitaires et les professionnels de 33 pays pour le colloque international: Routes touristiques et itinéraires culturels, entre mémoire et développement. Le programme proposé a permis de mettre en lumière les travaux et les réalisations des participants sur le thème commun des circuits touristiques et des lieux de mémoire. Le caractère pluridisciplinaire des communications présentées et les échanges qui en ont découlés ont été fructueux à plusieurs égards. Cette richesse intellectuelle et scientifique nous permet de mieux comprendre le rôle des circuits touristiques dans la mise en valeur des lieux de mémoire. Non seulement, le secteur de la recherche universitaire en tourisme et patrimoine bénéficiera de ces réflexions, mais également les gestionnaires de circuits et de lieux de mémoire. Soulignons que les communications ont été présentées en français, en anglais ou en espagnol. La diversité s'est illustrée non seulement par l’usage de trois langues, mais aussi à travers les diverses cultures des participants.

Spaniards in Mauthausen is the first study of the cultural legacy of Spaniards imprisoned and killed during the Second World War in the Nazi concentration camp Mauthausen. By examining narratives about Spanish Mauthausen victims over the past seventy years, author Sara J. Brenneis provides a historical, critical, and chronological analysis of a virtually unknown body of work. Diverse accounts from survivors of Mauthausen, chronicled in letters, artwork, photographs, memoirs, fiction, film, theatre, and new media, illustrate how Spaniards have become cognizant of the Spanish government's relationship to the Nazis and its role in the victimization of Spanish nationals in Mauthausen. As political prisoners, their numbers and experiences differ significantly from the millions of Jews exterminated by Hitler, yet the Spaniards in Mauthausen were nevertheless objects of Nazi violence and witnesses to the Holocaust.

The Spanish Arcadia analyzes the figure of the shepherd in the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Spanish imaginary, exploring its centrality to the discourses on racial, cultural, and religious identity. Drawing on a wide range of documents, including theological polemics on blood purity, political treatises, manuals on animal husbandry, historiography, paintings, epic poems, and Spanish ballads, Javier Irigoyen-García argues that the figure of the shepherd takes on extraordinary importance in the reshaping of early modern Spanish identity. The Spanish Arcadia contextualizes pastoral romances within a broader framework and assesses how they inform other cultural manifestations. In doing so, Irigoyen-García provides incisive new ideas about the social and ethnocentric uses of the genre, as well as its interrelation with ideas of race, animal husbandry, and nation building in early modern Spain.
