This book is "The rest of the story," for Jack and the Beanstalk. It covers what happened to Jack's family after his famous trip up the beanstalk. It turned out that Jack traded the cow for a magic bean and a carrot seed. By the time he got home, he was beginning to feel a little foolish about the trade. Opening his hand, Jack stared down at his seeds, wondering how he was going to explain this all to his mother. But a wind came up and blew that little carrot seed out of Jack's hand. With great doubts about the wisdom of his trade, Jack didn't mention the lost carrot seed. But the carrot seed also grew. It grew much slower. It was still growing when grandchildren Jack III and Elayna came along and the carrot was now gigantic. It is true that Jack made a lot of money from the hen who laid the golden eggs and the singing harp. But Jack had never been that good with money, so the family fortune was gone. The giant carrot gave Jack III and Elayna an idea. They thought it would be a great place for a carrot mine to sell carrot pieces in the local market. Over time, as Jack and Elayna made their way to the lower parts of the giant carrot, a strange glow began to come from the depths of the carrot mine. What kind of world did they discover? All their lives Jack III and his sister Elayna had listened to the tales about their grandfather and the beanstalk. Now those adventures seemed very tame compared to what they faced in the depths of the carrot mine. But when so much was at stake, did they have their grandfather's courage? The stories in the Galactic Flyer books are for children, but they are not childish. Children are brilliant and I have seen that they love to learn about character and values in their stories. This story teaches about courage, freedom and also about being wise with money. There are many colorful pictures in this book. The pictures of characters acting out this adventure are of my children and grandchildren who grew up on these tales. This is a story that children will remember. Over the decades I have made up countless stories of adventure and fantasy for my children and grandchildren. I chose the stories in this series from those my teen grandchildren still remember. It is a joy to pass these stories along to others outside our circle of family and friends. I hope you and the children in your life enjoy them.

All their lives Jack lll and his sister Elayna have listened to the tales about their grandfather and the beanstalk. It turned out that Grandfather Jack had actually traded the cow for magic beans and a carrot seed. But when he got home the little carrot seed had blown out of Grandfather Jack's hand. Already feeling a little embarrassed about the trade, Jack didn't mention the carrot seed. The carrot seed also grew, but it had grown much slower. By the time Jack III and Elayna came along, it was quite gigantic. When all the family wealth from the trip up the beanstalk had run out, Jack III and Elayna began to sell carrot pieces in the local market. As they worked deeper and deeper into the carrot, it became a huge carrot mine. But then some strange things began to happen. It became an adventure that made Grandpa Jack's trip up the beanstalk look like a calm Sunday outing. But when so much was at stake, did they have their grandfather's courage? This book is 42 pages of excitement and intrigue with colorful pictures showing every step of the story. However, the story is a little too intense for very young children. Depending on the child, perhaps around five years old is a good minimum age for this book.
