"Jacopo Bassano e lo stupendo inganno dell'occhio" è l'evento che segna l'avvio del triennio celebrativo per i 500 anni della nascita di Jacopo Bassano (1510? - 1592). Allestita nel Museo Civico che ospita in esposizione permanente 21 opere del pittore veneto, la mostra presenta un disegno e 15 dipinti, molti dei quali mai visti in Italia e alcuni inediti, provenienti da collezioni pubbliche e private internazionali. Il percorso espositivo prende avvio da un'inedita e giovanile Adorazione dei Magi, recentemente rinvenuta a Roma, per arrivare alle opere della maturità. Il cammino artistico - iniziato all'insegna del naturalismo, poi superato in nome di un manierismo esasperato - porterà il pittore ad acquisire un linguaggio nuovo e personale. Il suo particolare uso di colore e luce è ben esemplificato nei "Due Cani", capolavoro proveniente dal Louvre e finora mai esposto in Italia. Un piccolo capitolo a parte è costituito dalla ritrattistica dell'artista che vede nel "Ritratto di cardinale" del Museo di Budapest e nel "Ritratto di senatore veneziano" dei Musei di Berlino due capolavori fondamentali per comprendere la sua assoluta qualità introspettiva.

Il volume analizza l’opera di Andrea Meldolla detto Schiavone partendo dalla formazione artistica per concludersi con le grandi commissioni degli anni ’50 che lo videro operoso fino al 1563, anno della morte. La sua storia pittorica e di prolifico disegnatore, è qui tratteggiata in filigrana rispetto alla carriera da incisore. Attraverso il corpus di stampe che si conserva nelle collezioni romane, si è letta una esperienza di sperimentazione tecnica e di innovazione formale che fa assurgere lo Schiavone a protagonista della storia dell’incisione italiana, riportando alla luce l’unica lastra, ad oggi conosciuta del Meldolla: un rame con una Natività dal Parmigianino, conservata nelle collezioni dell’Istituto Centrale per la Grafica di Roma che chiarisce in modo definitivo i punti relativi alla sua pratica incisoria. Francesca Di Gioia è docente Storia dell’Arte all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Frosinone, già docente a contratto di Storia dell’Arte Moderna presso la Facoltà di Lettere dell’Università degli Studi di Foggia. Si è laureata cum laude in Conservazione dei Beni Culturali presso l’Università “S. Orsola Benincasa” di Napoli, discutendo una tesi su “Le stampe di Andrea Schiavone nelle collezioni romane”. Si è specializzata in incisione (bulino) presso l’Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica di Roma ed ha conseguito il Diploma di Biblioteconomia presso la Scuola della Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (A.A. 2010/2011). Attualmente è ricercatore indipendente presso il Centro Branca della Fondazione “Giorgio Cini” di Venezia con un progetto di ricerca sulla produzione incisoria dello Schiavone. È stata docente incaricato di Arte Sacra e di Museologia presso la Facoltà Teologica Pugliese (sede di Foggia). Ha dato alle stampe: Invenit, delineavit et sculpsit. Per un approccio alle Arti Grafiche (Edizioni Il Castello, 2012); Vissi d’arte. Cinque anni di penna appassionata (Edizioni del Rosone, 2012); Profeti e Sibille. Capolavori dell’arte italiana (Edizioni Il Castello, 2014). È giornalista pubblicista e cura un blog di Storia e Critica d’Arte per “Il Mattino di Foggia”. È autrice di articoli e saggi pubblicati su riviste specialistiche nazionali, e dei monologhi teatrali: “MicH A El!” sulla vita di Caravaggio e “Rerum magna parens timuit” sulla vita di Raffaello. Ha partecipato a numerosi convegni e simposi di storia dell’arte. Ha partecipato al convegno internazionale di studio su “Scipione l’Africano” (Academia Belgica, Roma, 2012) con un intervento su “La fortuna critica dei Trionfi all’antica nelle stampe rinascimentali”, e al convegno di studio “Scrittura e Potere” con una relazione dal titolo “Emblemata: segni e simboli elle carte della stamperia Camerale” (Biblioteca di Storia dell’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Roma, 2015). L’articolo “Andrea Schiavone: la lastra ritrovata” è stato pubblicato dalla rivista Grafica d’Arte; su Art&Dossier è apparso un suo contributo.

In early sixteenth-century Italy, works of art came to be understood as unique objects made by individuals of genius, giving rise to a new sense of the artist as the author of his images. At the same time, the practice of engraving, a medium that produced multiple printed images via collaborative processes, rapidly developed. In this book, Lisa Pon examines how images passed between artists and considers how printing techniques affected the authorship of images. Pon focuses on the encounters between the engraver Marcantonio Raimondi and three key artists: Albrecht Dürer, Raphael, and Giorgio Vasari. She reevaluates their work in light of the tensions between possessive authorship and practical collaboration in the visual arts.
