Excerpt from Jahrbuch des Historischen Vereins des Kantons Glarus, 1874, Vol. 10 In der nunmehr über das angehörte dankbare und fesselnde Thema sich entspinnenden Diskussion wurde hauptsachlich betont, wie man eben bei Würdigung der wissenschaftlichen Leistungen von Aegidius Tschudi vor Allem den Massstab nnd die Bedürfnisse sei ner Zeit, sowie die ihm dazumal zu Gebote stehenden Hülfsmittel in Betracht zu ziehen habe. In Anknüpfung an den Umstand, dass am 28. Februar 1872 bereits 300 Jahre seit dem Tode des selben verflossen, machte sodann das Präsidium die Anregung, oh es nicht zeitgemäss, ja als eine Ehrenpflicht für den Kanton Gla rus und im Speziellen für unsern historischen Verein erscheine, darauf hinzuwirken, dass unserm grossen Geschichtsforscher ein öffentliches Denkmal errichtet werde. Zu dem Behnfe sollte dem bezüglichen Comite in Verbindung mit dem Vorstand des glarneri schen Kunstvereins zunächst der Auftrag ertheilt werden, diese An gelegenheit sorgfältig im Auge zu behalten und die nöthigen Schritte zu ihrer Verwirklichung vorzubereiten.
