"It's an ill-omened start, when seventeen-year-old Charles Grover gets caught by his father trying to murder his mother -- only to have her die independently the next day. What he encounters on his grim, unnecessary lam across Canada (a seedy old-age home, a yet more senescent pleasure hotel) only confirms the worst imaginings of a teenager with a bad attitude, much as the aborted murder clinched his opinion of himself. The signal thing about Charles, though it's never mentioned, is his lack of experience: even the little we see happening to him is so instantly sponged up into his dour preconceptions that the whole world seems infected with his apathy and lethargy. It takes a great trauma to lever the story into action. Yet catastrophe to Charles' true love comes as no more of a surprise than that he should have found her to begin with; and the ending, resolving Charles' tale with an even less plausible sub-plot, is an instance of fantasy pumped up to bursting -- imitation apotheosis -- just as the foregoing was a flat-tired impersonation of real life. Meant to be unpleasant -- succeeding past the author's wildest dreams."--Kirkus

Meet Joshua Phillips, a fourteen-year-old boy who dares to embrace with all of his heart, mind, and strength to follow Jesus. But following the Master isn't without tribulations and trials as the young man faces the growing pressures of his family, his school, a gang not happy with his activities, and the mysterious girl he begins to show an interest in, Lydia Claremont.***As astonishing signs and wonders begin to follow the boy, and as the boy's impact begins to touch people around him in his school, family, and city, there comes the crucible of staying true regardless of building pressures. When news comes about his little brother struggling with an aggressive sickness seemingly resistant to Josh's prayers, when unexpected news about Lydia becomes known to all, and when darkness rises within the community bent on its destruction, these all come together to present the greatest of challenges. Will the One within Joshua be enough to confront these tests and overcome--and not compromise and become like the world?***Joshua Phillips is whispered to be the Jesus Boy.***((Please note this novel is NOT a children's story although all ages will enjoy it.))***Praise for "the Jesus boy":***"'The Jesus boy' by Sean Elliot Russell gives us a wonder. This spirit-filled superhero Jesus boy presents an urban fantasy as an extension of true reality. The wondrous events ring true even though we know this is fiction. It's clearly a teaching vehicle. But the characters portray a reality commonly lost in current churches. More than that, the characters compel us to look at ourselves--if we've never done that. Several times I found myself reexamining my relationship with the Lord. The whole story lifts up the love of God in the lives of believers and non-believers. Though it satisfied me deeply, I believe it is an exceptional book... Rarely do we find a book this well done with such spiritual strength. This shows us how much can be done with spirit-filled fiction." David Bergsland, Radiqx Press***"This book reminds me of Ted Dekker's 'Blessed Child,' the highest compliment I can give a fiction title, as it's THE best fiction book I've ever read, and I'm a writer of fiction, so that's saying something--it's the kind of spiritual fiction I aspire to write." Kristen Collier, writer of "Dreamchaser" and numerous other books.***More Praise for "the Jesus boy":***"Parts of the novel had me trembling in fear to the point of using a night-light, while other parts had me searching for a box of tissues. I could feel the gaping holes in my heart getting smaller and smaller, as God's healing love flowed over me. You could be: a Joshua, a Lydia, a Brad, a Cary, or any of the other characters in this book." Sharon Strickland, reader***"Enjoyed. Enriched. Identified with the main character, Joshua. And a surprise ending I didn't expect!" Lawrence Pesquera, reader***"A good read with some unexpected surprises. Some almost poetic prose--and highlighted the tensions of walking close to God while walking this earth. Really satisfying and emotional." John Paolo, reader***"...touched my spirit..." P G Guegbelet, reader***Awards for "the Jesus boy": ***This novel received a Recognition of Achievement Award from Radiqx Press as a work of fiction from a Spirit-filled perspective.

It's the greatest story never told: that of a boy who met Jesus and dared to ask Him all the questions that have consumed mankind since the dawn of time. His name was Segatashya. He was a shepherd born into a penniless and illiterate pagan family in the most remote region of Rwanda. He never attended school, never saw a bible, and never set foot in a church. Then one summer day in 1982 while the 15-year-old was resting beneath a shade tree, Jesus Christ paid him a visit. Jesus asked the startled young man if he'd be willing to go on a mission to remind mankind how to live a life that leads to heaven. Segatashya accepted the assignment on one condition: that Jesus answer all his questions-and all the questions of those he met on his travels-about faith, religion, the purpose of life, and the nature of heaven and hell. Jesus agreed to the boy's terms, and Segatashya set off on what would become one of the most miraculous journeys in modern history. Although he was often accused of being a charlatan and beaten as a result, Segatashya's innocent heart and powerful spiritual wisdom quickly won over even the most cynical of critics. Soon, this teenage boy who had never learned to read or write was discussing theology with leading biblical scholars and advising pastors and priests of all denominations. He became so famous in Rwanda that the Catholic Church investigated his story. The doctors and psychiatrists who examined Segatashya all agreed that they were witnessing a miracle. His words and simple truths converted thousands of hearts and souls wherever he went. Before his death during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, Segatashya continued his travels and conversations with Jesus for eight years, asking Him what we all want to know: · Why were we created? · Why must we suffer? · Why do bad things happen to good people? · When will the world end? · Is there life after death? · How do we get to Heaven? The answers to these and many other momentous, life-changing questions are revealed in this riveting book, which is the first full account of Segatashya's remarkable life story. Written with grace, passion, and loving humor by Immaculée Ilibagiza, Segatashya's close friend and a survivor of the Rwandan holocaust herself, this truly inspirational work is certain to move you in profound ways. No matter what your faith or religious beliefs, Segatashya's words will bring you comfort and joy, and prepare your heart for this life . . . and for life everlasting.

The two contradicting genealogies of Jesus in the Gospels have long puzzled biblical scholars. Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual research led him to the controversial theological conclusion that historically there existed two Jesus boys, born of two holy families. These two boys, he said, were necessary as part of the spiritual preparation of forming a suitable human body for the incarnation of Christ into the earthly realm. Both apocryphal texts and the writings of the Essenes – as discovered at Qumran by the Dead Sea – now appear to support this conception, with references to Messianic figures from both royal and priestly lines. Various authors have developed Rudolf Steiner’s observations – first presented in the early twentieth century – although much of this literature has lacked the rigour of accurate and broad scholarship. The Two Jesus Boys is not simply a derivative rehash of these previous publications. Rather, it offers a fresh investigation of primary sources, coupled with an objective determination to allow the facts to speak for themselves. Christoph Rau thus comes to the unavoidable conclusion that Steiner’s presentation of the chronology of the two births needs revision; furthermore, the most recent discoveries and interpretations of Essene scrolls reveal that the Jewish sect expected not one but three Messiahs. Rau quotes from and analyses numerous documents from the landscape of early Christianity and Judaism. His findings provide a secure foundation for the historical existence of two Jesus boys in the prelude to Christ’s incarnation on earth, as well as a revelation of the Essenes’ long expectation of three Messiahs.

William and Beatrice Hampston gladly welcome nine-year-old Russell Hendrix into their home in Nelson, British Columbia, in December of 1945. This older, childless couple enjoys the company of this orphaned boy who had been hiding in their barn. The Hampstons and the townspeople soon realize that Russell is an extraordinary child. He intimately knows the details of the Bible and of the life of Jesus Christ. Russell is popular with both the students at school and the adults in the community as they believe in his mission as a young preacher of the good word. When Russell resurrects his friend Lawrence from death, people suspect that he is Jesus Christ returned to earth as a small child. But Russell doesn't think he is Jesus, and he doesn't want to be Jesus. As he grows older, he faces enormous problems because many continue to pray to him despite Russell's insistence that he isn't Jesus Christ. The matter is laid to rest when sixteen-year-old Russell goes missing. Years later, the Vatican investigates whether or not the boy really was Jesus Christ.

I must express my eternal gratitude to the Holy Spirit whose inspiration brought light to the writing of this book.Truly all good wisdom, knowledge, and understanding are the sources.I received the inspiration to write this book in 2008, and when it was completed, I had put it aside because I realize that it needed editing.I was also concerned about acquiring suitable illustrations.I was very privileged to attend a promotion event for Eulene Greenland's book, Thoughts and Tales, which motivated me to finish my own book.To Dr. Lena Woodhouse, as I typed away on my computer, she was there when the title A Boy Named Jesus came to me.Also to Dr. Noel Paris, he read the text and approved it.My granddaughter, Brenna R. Coy, also read my book to her daughter.Brielle George, they both loved it.Special thanks to Pastor Samuel and Millicent James for the many times she made suggestions on the publication of this book, A Boy Named Jesus. She also contributed the initial payment.I must also acknowledge the many times I have called upon her and Eulene to assist in reviewing the work in this book. They were at my service in lending a hand in the final review and editing. Thanks to my dear friend Aurille Moore, who always gives me inspiration. Also to Chanda Lennon and Patricia Brown, who also assisted. The boy Jesus became the man Christ Jesus, who has made many great impressions in the lives of countless persons with whom he came into contact.Even as a child Jesus is known to have impacted so many lives in so many different ways. And even presently, surely, he can and is still making great differences in the lives of all who may allow him. So without questioning, I would like to appeal to any reader to kindly allow Christ Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, to lead you, and then choose to follow.Let us encourage each other by the reading, hearing, teaching, and doing of God's holy Word.I truly hope that this book will be an inspiration to its readers and hearers.Author P.
