Excerpt from Jesus Christ God-Man, or the Constitution of Christ's Person: With the Evidence and Importance of the Doctrine of His True and Proper Godhead; Considered in Several Plain and Practical Sermons, on Rom, IX, 5 The following Sermons were prepar'd, in the Stated Course of my Mini fry, only for the use of a private Congregation; as I suppose most that know me will readily believe 5 But the uncommon Desires, and importunate pursuing Instances of many for a Publication of them, have at length (contrary to my own, and it may be some others Expectations) put Violence upon my Self Consciousness of Insufficiency for doing Justice to the noble Cause 1 plead, subdued my Natural Reluctance again ff appearing in so publick a manner, and almost forced me to yield to my Friends, who in this Cafe were unyielding to me. The Reasons of their Urgency I found were taken from the Advantage, which, by the Blessing of God, these Discourses had ministered to fever a I of themselves, and might minister to others, and from the Reasonableness and Importance of their principal Subject, together with the need of having it recommended (as I have attempted) to the Hearts and Confidences, as well as to the Judgments of those who projects Christ's Name.
