The volume theme is the distinctiveness of Jesuits and their ministries that was discussed at the first International Symposium on Jesuit Studies held at Boston College’s Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies in June 2015. It explores the quidditas Jesuitica, or the specifically Jesuit way(s) of proceeding in which Jesuits and their colleagues operated from historical, geographical, social, and cultural perspectives. The collection poses a question whether there was an essential core of distinctive elements that characterized the way in which Jesuits lived their religious vocation and conducted their various works and how these ways of proceeding were lived out in the various epochs and cultures in which Jesuits worked over four and a half centuries; what changed and adapted itself to different times and situations, and what remained constant, transcending time and place, infusing the apostolic works and lives of Jesuits with the charism at the source of the Society of Jesus’s foundation and development. An in-depth look at British–Polish literary pre-Enlightenment contacts, The Call of Albion explores how the reverberations of British religious upheavals in distant Poland–Lithuania surprisingly served to strengthen the impact of English, Scottish, and Welsh works on Polish literature. The book argues that Jesuits played a key role in that process. The book provides an insightful account of how the transmission, translation, and recontextualization of key publications by British Protestants and Catholics served Calvinist and Jesuit agendas, while occasionally bypassing barriers between confessionally defined textual communities and inspiring Polish–Lithuanian political thought, as well as literary tastes.

"Prace Historyczne" są kwartalnikiem ukazującym się w ramach Zeszytów Naukowych Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Pierwszy numer ukazał się w 1955 r. Początkowo pismo wychodziło nieregularnie. Później, pod redakcją prof. Krzysztofa Baczkowskiego, zostało przekształcone w rocznik, a następnie w kwartalnik. Od 2009 czasopismo ukazuje się w sposób ciągły on-line. Pismo jest związane z Instytutem Historii UJ. W ramach „Prac Historycznych” ukazywały się również serie tematyczne: „Studia Austro-Polonica”, „Studia Polono-Danubiana et Balcanica”, „Studia Gallo-Polonica”, „Studia Germano-Polonica” i „Studia Italo-Polonica”. Łamy pisma są otwarte dla badaczy różnych epok (od starożytności po czasy współczesne) i różnych specjalności (historia polityczna, społeczna, gospodarcza, historia nauki i kultury). Teksty są publikowane w języku polskim oraz językach kongresowych (angielskim, niemieckim, francuskim). Są wśród nich oryginalne studia naukowe, edycje źródeł historycznych, polemiki i recenzje oraz sprawozdania z najciekawszych wydarzeń naukowych. Ostatnio publikowali w „Pracach” badacze, między innymi, z Austrii, Czech, Niemiec, Rumunii, Słowacji i Stanów Zjednoczonych.
