O presente livro tem como finalidade realizar uma reflexão sobre a relação entre Jornalismo e Literatura, a partir do estudo da vida e obra do poeta-soldado inglês Siegfried Sassoon, contextualizando o Movimento Modernista Inglês no período da 1ª Guerra Mundial. O objetivo principal é evidenciar de que forma as obras literárias desenvolvidas por Sassoon, naquele contexto/época, se apresentam como uma narrativa jornalística, como também demonstrar que ambas formas narrativas sempre estão em sintonia, uma referenciando a outra ou utilizando-a como guia ou inspiração na composição de seus textos, sejam eles ficcionais ou reais, como é comprovado durante o desenrolar da história do fazer jornalismo e fazer literatura. A escolha desse tema partiu de um artigo feito para a disciplina de Cultura e Mídia. Posteriormente, tornou-se minha monografia do curso de graduação em Comunicação Social pela Universidade Federal do Cariri (UFCA). Decidi transformar tal trabalho em livro, pela carência de referências bibliográficas, em língua portuguesa, sobre a vida e da obra do poeta-soldado inglês Siegfried Sassoon. A relevância deste estudo é para quem desejar se habilitar a adentrar em um passado histórico e ao mesmo tempo eterno do vasculhar de memórias de diversas vertentes direcionadas a narrar a mesma história que ficou conhecida como a 1ª Guerra Mundial, a Grande Guerra ou a Mãe de Todas as Guerras.

O livro em questão tem como finalidade apresentar um estudo introdutório e analítico sobre a personagem Lilith, por meio da evolução dos significados atribuídos a sua história presente em tradições religiosas, e como ocorreu a apropriação e exploração desse símbolo na obra Xenogenesis da escritora afro-americana Octavia Estelle Butler, como objeto intersemiótico das relações culturais, sociais e religiosas que abrangem a nossa sociedade. Para isso, vislumbraremos através de um mito escatológico de como aconteceu o apocalipse na Terra, como aqueles que sobreviveram tiveram a oportunidade de presenciar um renascimento cosmogônico de um novo Gênesis, do caos ao cosmo. E esse gênesis sempre está ligado com assuntos que envolvem a sexualidade, viés pelo qual estará presente ou evidenciado nas narrativas mitológicas que envolvem o nome de Lilith e consequentemente estará reafirmado na obra de Octavia. Lilith e as questões da sexualidade serão o elo de um diálogo intersemiótico de compreensão dos elementos construtivos, desconstrutivos e reconstrutivos ligados a personagem inserida no universo religioso, mitológico e literário.

Exile and migration played a critical role in the diffusion and development of modernism around the globe, yet have long remained largely understudied phenomena within art historiography. Focusing on the intersections of exile, artistic practice and urban space, this volume brings together contributions by international researchers committed to revising the historiography of modern art. It pays particular attention to metropolitan areas that were settled by migrant artists in the first half of the 20th century. These arrival cities developed into hubs of artistic activities and transcultural contact zones where ideas circulated, collaborations emerged, and concepts developed. Taking six major cities as a starting point – Bombay (now Mumbai), Buenos Aires, Istanbul, London, New York, and Shanghai –the authors explore how urban topographies and landscapes were modified by exiled artists re-establishing their practices in metropolises across the world. Questioning the established canon of Western modernism, Arrival Cities investigates how the migration of artists to different urban spaces impacted their work and the historiography of art. In doing so, it aims to encourage the discussion between international scholars from different research fields, such as exile studies, art history, social history, architectural history, architecture, and urban studies.
