Pessoas que, não raramente, nunca habitaram os holofotes ou frequentaram as Blau Projects e Louvres da vida, mas nem por isso deixam de ter sua importância. Muito menos podem ser chamados de menores apenas por não terem sido escolhidos pelo destino para servirem de referência e objeto de estudo, ou mesmo terem suas obras penduradas nas disputadas paredes dos famosos museus. Assim como o oceano é composto por incontáveis gotas que, juntas, formam a imensidão azul, a arte e a cultura humana transcende os DaVincis, Gauguins, Portinaris e Romeros. Não digo isso por ser eu, fruto do artista aqui esmiuçado, tentando dar uma grandeza à sua obra que não condiga com a realidade. Mas mesmo que fosse essa a razão a me mover, ainda assim não tiraria o mérito e a beleza da sua arte e nem o valor das suas criações, se não para a totalidade do mundo, pelo menos para aqueles que tiveram a oportunidade de apreciá-la. Ainda que considerássemos tudo o que foi dito como inerte e sem porquê, não tornaria menor o meu engajamento em fazer materializar-se esse compêndio. Ele conta a história de um Puri e a preservação e o registro de cada vírgula de sua vida, significa a preservação e o registro de uma porção importante da história da sua família, da minha família. Este livro guarda parte da saga de José Luiz da Silva para seus descendentes e, eventualmente, para os outros não pertencentes ao nosso clã e que tiverem o privilégio de visitar tal história.
