Nothing compares to the taste of a tomato freshly picked out of the home garden, whether it is a sweet cherry tomato that can be eaten by the handful like candy, or a juicy beefsteak, sliced or eaten like an apple. Tomatoes are relatively easy to grow and popular with gardeners everywhere. The Journey of a Tomato is a journal for keeping track of the life of the tomato, whether if it is started from a seed or a plant purchased at a nursery, how well the plant performs, and the ultimate end result, how delicious the fruit tastes. The journal includes information on the various types and colors of tomatoes, the different tastes ranging from acidic to bland to sweet, tips on companion planting, various problems and pests, and suggested soil amendments. Pages are included for planning the layout of the garden, a quick reference guide for listing tomato plants and seeds ordered and purchased, and in-depth sheets for tracking the tomato's information, which help decide if it is worth planting again, and pages for taping a seed packet, sketch or picture too, with room for notes. Journey of a Tomato is useful year-round, allows for tracking the crop at the height of summer, serves as a memory book during the cold winter, and helps plan next year's garden in the early spring and fall. Tomato enthusiasts, whether a beginning gardener or experienced horticulturist will appreciate the journal as a side companion to the tomato's journey from seed, to plant, to the amazing fruit that can only be grown at home.

When I started my journey planting tomato seeds, I never expected to face so many twists and turns. I had hope that things would go smoothly, and many times I even felt like giving up. Fortunately, I did not give up. When I started out, I never would have imagined the valuable lessons I learned along the way. On reflection of the hurdles, triumphs and successes I experienced during the tomato journey, it occurred to me, isn't life like that? There are always challenges to overcome. The tomatoes have become a metaphor for me as I navigate the challenges I encounter in life. I was reminded of the story in the Bible where God told Jeremiah, "Arise, and go down to the potter's house ..." (Jeremiah 18:2). After Jeremiah observed the potter at work, God helped him to understand more about God's working in the lives of His people; the 19-week journey with the tomato plants did something similar for me. Now I invite you to join me on this journey. Maybe I will never look at a tomato seed the same again after my experience. And after you read Rescued Tomato Seeds maybe you won't either. I pray that as you read you will gain insights to help you along your life journey and that you will find encouragement to continue to press on, no matter what comes your way . Be Blessed.

Ten Tomatoes That Changed The World written by William Alexander and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-07 with Cooking categories.

New York Times bestselling author William Alexander takes readers on a surprisingly twisty journey through the history of the beloved tomato in this fascinating and erudite microhistory. The tomato gets no respect. Never has. Stored in the dustbin of history for centuries, accused of being vile and poisonous, appropriated as wartime propaganda, subjected to being picked hard-green and gassed, even used as a projectile, the poor tomato is the Rodney Dangerfield of foods. Yet, the tomato is the most popular vegetable in America (and, in fact, the world). It holds a place in America's soul like no other vegetable, and few other foods. Each summer, tomato festivals crop up across the country; John Denver had a hit single titled "homegrown Tomatoes;" and the Heinz tomato ketchup bottle, instantly recognizable, is in the Smithsonian. Author William Alexander is on a mission to get tomatoes the respect they deserve. Supported by meticulous research but told in a lively, accessible voice, Ten Tomatoes that Changed the World will seamlessly weave travel, history, humor, and a little adventure (and misadventure) to follow the tomato's trail through history. A fascinating story complete with heroes, con artists, conquistadors and, no surprise, the Mafia, this book is a mouth-watering, informative, and entertaining guide to the good that has captured our hearts for generations.
