Destiny's Journey is a memoir reconstructed partly from notebooks that Döblin kept from the time he worked in the French Ministry of Information in the spring of 1940 and partly written without notes in Los Angeles where he took refuge during the Second World War. It tells the personal and generational story of the flight of Jewish and anti-Nazi intellectuals from Europe to America, their fear and frustration, isolation, and inability to work. Döblin’s story differs from that of other Jewish intellectuals and artists in that his family converts to Catholicism in Los Angeles. Unlike most of them, he returns to Europe as an officer with the French forces and works on denazifying German literature. The conversion narrative bridges the departure from and return to Europe. To critic John Simon, “the latter part of the book often reads like a shrill piece of Christian homiletics. We live in a time where success has been overrated, and the process is downgraded. You will need to also understand how to navigate your process and wilderness state, the spiritual strategy to go through the process God is taking you through. You will also need to have a spiritual understanding of the process to see the performance and get the reward of passing your wilderness test. The Process is a prerequisite for the performance because it is what built into us the necessary character, virtues, and spiritual stamina needed to sustain the performance. In other words, God will first prepare you for what He has prepared for hence why the process is necessary. This book focuses on the premise that process precedes promotion and waiting on God concerning anything is not a waste of time rather a time to depend on and trust God the more and grow in your reliance and dependence on God. The word PROCESS was well examined with each letter been fully explained in relation to the journey to destiny. Where P is Purpose & Preparation; R is Realignment & Redirection; O is Obedience & Opportunity; C is Courage & Commitment; E is expectation & Endurance; S is Submission & Surrender; S is Supplication & Stand. It gives you an understanding that without the process there cannot be a performance of the promises of God, it is therefore important that we embrace the process God is taking us through for the performance to come to pass.
