Is there hope to be found in the wilderness? Jesus' forty days in the wilderness, which many Christians remember during Lent, echoes the story of God's people wandering for forty years in the wilderness. The book of Numbers tells of these wanderings but can be a difficult book of the Bible to get to grips with. Delving into this book alongside the New Testament and reflecting with prayers and questions, this daily Lent devotional explores how the Israelites' wilderness journey can speak to us in our daily struggles and challenges today. Through all the ups-and-downs of their wilderness adventure, we join with God's people as they learn to see the sure and certain fulfilment of God's future promises in the book of Numbers. We discover God's abiding presence through, as well as in, the wilderness. We see how the wilderness points us forward to the Promised Land, and to Jesus as the One who brings us into the fulness of God's promises. With readings from Numbers and from the New Testament each day, Journeying with God in the Wilderness guides us through an often-neglected book of the Bible, helping us to make sense of the Old Testament through the lens of the New and giving us Christ-centred hope. Journeying with God in the Wilderness is written as an aide to the spiritual journey of faith and can be read either individually or in small groups. It will encourage and inspire anyone feeling lost or bewildered on life's journey, or who wants to join in with the long Christian tradition of Lent as a wilderness experience, by showing them the fulfilment of the promises of God to his people in the wilderness. Join Mark Broadway this Lent and find hope for your wilderness journey.

In this life, there are conditions that are controllable and others which are uncontrollable. Strait experiences are examples of uncontrollable conditions everyone will experience in this life. Irrespective of the Love, Money, Time, Energy, Efforts or any other form of investments possible are put in to avert unexpected happenings in the form of straits. We must come to terms that this is normal in this world system.Giving up is never an option, neither is running away from facing it headlong a better escape at such a time. God's word in Ecclesiastes chapter 9 verse 4 says, ""While someone is among the living, hope remains," because "it is better to be a living dog than to be a dead lion."". If God has spared your life to encounter strait condition as a believer then be hopeful, He will carry you through same. However, right believing, right thinking and the right attitude is mandatory to journey through your wilderness experience even when there seems to be no beam of hope. Jesus Christ spoke of these times in the book of John 16 verse 33, "...that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (KJV)I wrote this book during my wilderness journey with the hope that I will come through it to the other side, my promise Land. God was faithful, I did! You too will. This is because, "hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us". Romans 5:5, KJVI hope this book will be a blessing to you as you journey through your wilderness.

In Journeying in the Wilderness, author Terri Martinson Elton observes that faith formation in the church setting is contextual, and multiple forces are coming together today to create seismic contextual changes at record speed. These changes are disrupting aspects of our lives, challenging assumptions, and dislodging personal and communal practices. For the church to take seriously its call to form faith in each generation, it must be attentive to current contextual realities. Elton places confessional understanding of faith in dialogue with five contextually altering forces in order to provide a pathway for congregations to reimagine faith formation in the midst of twenty-first-century realities. The use of stories, nontechnical language, and biblical perspectives make this work accessible for congregational leaders and others who seek to explore new directions in forming faith. Processes and practices are offered to help both leaders and congregations contextualize their approach to their particular settings. Each chapter includes leadership competencies, shared practices, and group discussion questions.

Increasingly, many Christians and spiritual seekers feel they are in a sort of wilderness space where the familiar, settled, and normal parts of life have become unsettled, out of balance. More and more people are evaluating their lives and asking, "Where to now?" In Life Unsettled, Cory Driver uses the metaphor of wilderness journeying (a hallmark of the life of faith across the millennia) and the study of biblical texts, ancient Jewish legends, modern theological insights, and his own personal journeys to provide a guide for moving forward when we feel lost and confused. The biblical book of Numbers takes center stage in the author's creative musings about life in the wilderness. The Hebrew title of Numbers is Bemidbar, which means "In the Wilderness." In this oft-overlooked book are stories of God's passionate intimacy and anger, communal formation and struggles, and personal failures and triumphs. The author shows how the wilderness journey in Numbers has a deep relevance for our time and for our personal journeys. The book includes a discussion guide ideal for group use.

Sanctuary in the Desert is a thirty-day devotional documenting a Christians wilderness journey and discovery of Gods presence. As the travelers connection to God unfolds, his all-encompassing love is often reminiscent of the beautiful relationship between the bridegroom and the bride in the Song of Solomon in the Bible. No believer who chooses to follow Christ is exempt from the desert experience, though circumstances differ in each travelers passage. The trial by fire may be personal, financial, or economic distress from the loss of a job, home, or health. However, the purpose of the wilderness and the knowledge imparted to the sojourner remain the same. Originally titled Forty Days in the Desert . . . and Counting, the theme of this devotional is ongoing. The traveler oftentimes is bound by his perception of past failure, present immobility, and future uncertainty. Yet he moves forward, mindful that failure is a necessary evil and a facet of success. The expectation is that with every tumble, the journeyman will jump back onto his horse, re-enter the race, and ride hard until he crosses the finish line. Philippians 3:1214 aptly urges the seeker to press on toward the high calling of Jesus Christforgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.

God wants to bring you from the wilderness to a miracle. You will make it through to the other side and discover God’s heart of love for you!
