Als ich nach dem Studium zusammen mit meinem Mann von Nordrhein-Westfalen ins rund 300 Kilometer entfernte Heidelberg zog, habe ich lange gebraucht, um mich in meiner neuen Heimat wirklich zu Hause zu fühlen. Obwohl ich die Region, die Menschen und die neue Wohnung mochte, fiel mir nach jedem Familienbesuch der Abschied schwer. Das änderte sich, als vor sechseinhalb Jahren zwei Katzen bei uns einzogen. Plötzlich freute ich mich nach Familienfeiern oder -geburts-tagen auch wieder darauf, nach Heidelberg zurückzukehren. Stück für Stück wurde so aus unseren vier Wänden ein richtiges Zuhause. Haustiere können unser Leben auf viele Arten bereichern. So geben sie vielen etwa Kraft in Zeiten der Pandemie oder unterstützen Menschen mit bestimmten Krankheiten dabei, selbstbestimmter ihren Alltag zu bestreiten.
