Mezinárodní tým odborníků pod vedením zvláštního agenta FBI ve výslužbě objasnil pomocí moderních technologií, nedávno objevených dokumentů a sofistikovaných vyšetřovacích metod záhadu, která od konce druhé světové války fascinuje celé generace: kdo udal Anne Frankovou a její rodinu? A proč? S využitím metod vyvinutých FBI vyšetřovatelé pečlivě rekonstruovali několikaměsíční sled událostí, které v srpnu 1944 vedly k nechvalně proslulému zatčení, a dospěl k šokujícímu závěru. Kniha Kdo zradil Anne Frankovou? je poutavým vyprávěním o této misi. Rosemary Sullivan představuje vyšetřovatele, vysvětluje motivy skrývajících se osob i jejich pronásledovatelů a vytváří profily podezřelých. Zároveň vykresluje živý obraz válečného Amsterdamu, místa, kde bez ohledu na to, jak bohatí, vzdělaní a opatrní jste byli, nikdy jste nevěděli, komu můžete věřit.

A breathtaking new novel that asks the question: what if Anne Frank survived the Holocaust? The year is 1945, and Anne Frank is sixteen years old. Having survived the concentration camps but lost her mother and sister along the way, she reunites with her father, Pim, in newly liberated Amsterdam. But it's not as easy to fit the pieces of their life back together. Anne is adrift, haunted by the ghosts of the horrors they experienced. Her beloved diary has been lost, and her dreams of becoming a writer seem distant and pointless now. As Anne struggles to overcome the brutality of memory and build a new life for herself, she grapples with heartbreak, grief, and ultimately the freedom of forgiveness. A story of trauma and redemption, Annelies honors Anne Frank's legacy as not only a symbol of hope and perseverance but also a complex young woman of great ambition and heart. In this masterful new novel, David Gillham explores with breathtaking empathy the woman--and the writer--Anne Frank might have become.

Hiding from the Nazis in the "Secret Annexe" of an old office building in Amsterdam, a thirteen-year-old girl named Anne Frank became a writer. The now famous diary of her private life and thoughts reveals only part of Anne's story, however. This book completes the portrait of this remarkable and talented young author. Tales from the Secret Annex is a complete collection of Anne Frank's lesser-known writings: short stories, fables, personal reminiscences, and an unfinished novel. Here, too, are portions of the diary originally withheld from publication by her father. By turns fantastical, rebellious, touching, funny, and heartbreaking, these writings reveal the astonishing range of Anne Frank's wisdom and imagination--as well as her indomitable love of life. Anne Frank's Tales from the Secret Annex is a testaments to this determined young woman's extraordinary genius and to the persistent strength of the creative spirit.

In 1941, Theo Coster was a student at the Amsterdam Jewish Lyceum, one in a class of 28 Jewish children that the Nazis had segregated from the rest of the Dutch population. Among Theo's fellow students was a young Anne Frank, whose diary would later become one of the most important documents of the Holocaust. In this remarkable group portrait, Coster and five of his fellow classmates gather their personal stories and memories of Anne. The accounts collected here do not just help us to rediscover Anne Frank. They also stand on their own as remarkable stories of ingenuity and survival during the Holocaust--from Albert Gomes de Mesquita, who hid in ten different towns across Europe--to Hannah Goslar, who experienced the horrors of Bergen-Belsen but also made a miraculous reconnection with Anne days before her death.

God S Rainbow written by Jaroslav Durych and has been published by Charles University in Prague, Karolinum Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-01 with Fiction categories.

This is a book about collective guilt, individual fate, and repentance, a tale that explores how we can come to be responsible for crimes we neither directly commit nor have the power to prevent. Set in the Czechoslovakian borderland shortly after WWII amid the sometimes violent expulsion of the region's German population, Jaroslav Durych's poetic, deeply symbolic novel is a literary touchstone for coming to terms with the Czech Republic's difficult and taboo past of state-sanctioned violence. A leading Catholic intellectual of the early twentieth century, Durych became a literary and political throwback to the prewar Czechoslovak Republic and faced censorship under the Stalinist regime of the 1950s. As such, he was a man not unfamiliar with the ramifications of a changing society in which the minority becomes the rule-making political authority, only to end up condemned as criminals. Though Durych finished writing God's Rainbow in 1955, he could not have hoped to see it published in his lifetime. Released in a stillcensored form in 1969, God's Rainbow is available here in full for the first time in English. Within the Czech arts, the novella God's Rainbow is a unique direct reflection of the expulsion from Bohemia of the German-speaking population following World War II. In it Durych brings fully to bear all the elements of his poetics - a narrative that is replete with Symbolist oneirism, is highly expressive, spiced with irony and written in a rhythmical poetic language.
