Anxiety: Current Trends in Theory and Research, Volume I, seeks to facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of anxiety phenomena. This volume emerged from a symposium on Anxiety: Current Trends in Theory and Research held at Florida State University in the spring of 1970. The symposium brought together persons who have made important contributions to the understanding of anxiety phenomena and provided them with an opportunity to react to each other's ideas. One of the main goals of the symposium was to stimulate confrontation among opposing views with the expectation that this would, at least, provide clarification of terminology and eliminate the semantic confusion plaguing the field. The volume is organized into three parts. Part I presents an overview of the unique theoretical perspective and research objectives with which each contributor has approached the topic of anxiety. It also provides background information and historical perspective for the reader with limited familiarity with this area. Part II contains papers focusing on the nature and measurement of anxiety. Part III deals with the neurophysiological and biochemical aspects of anxiety. This work is intended primarily for psychologists and students of psychology, but it should be of interest to any behavioral or medical scientist concerned with a more comprehensive understanding of personality and psychopathology.

Service Learning Pedagogy written by Virginia M. Jagla and has been published by IAP this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-01 with Education categories.

Service-learning is a powerful method of teaching and learning that has been used effectively for more than two decades. Its efficacy has been researched in a variety of ways and this volume continues to expand that research base. In particular, in this volume, Service-Learning Pedagogy: How Does It Measure Up?, we explore three broad areas of service-learning research and practice that reflect broader discussions of the role of pedagogy in today’s educational reform efforts: Teacher Education, Crossing Boundaries: Deepening Relationships in Service-Learning and New Paradigms/Conceptual Frameworks. Many have called for more rigorous methods when researching service-learning pedagogy. That has been the major impetus for this volume. We seek to generate knowledge regarding service-learning pedagogy, while developing theories about it. We surface some elusive affective characteristics of the pedagogy, which we know has the power to produce transformational learning. To this end, the authors who have contributed to this volume effectively add to the growing body of knowledge in the field and help us get closer to understanding the extent to which service-learning does and does not measure up.

Organized into six main themes—Introduction, Defining the Management and the Research Problem, Theory, Collecting Information, Drawing Conclusions, and Writing and Presenting the Research Report—the text enables students to develop the skills and knowledge required to successfully create, conduct, and analyze a research project. Now in its eighth edition, this popular textbook has been thoroughly updated to incorporate substantial new and expanded content, and reflect current research methods and practices. This book serves as an introduction to using online teaching technologies and hybrid forms of teaching for experiential learning and civic engagement. eService-Learning (electronic service-learning) combines service-learning and online learning and enables the delivery of the instruction and/or the service to occur partially or fully online. eService-Learning allows students anywhere, regardless of geography, physical constraints, work schedules, or other access limitations, to experience this high-impact pedagogy. It creates a world of opportunities to connect students with communities across the globe-as well as on their very own doorstep. This book introduces the reader to the four emerging types of eService-Learning, which range from Extreme eService-Learning, where 100% of the instruction and 100% of the service occur online, to three distinct types of hybrid models, where either the service or the instruction is delivered wholly online or where service and instruction are delivered both on-site and online. This book will appeal to educational and community partners seeking to collaborate remotely, and to online instructors who want to engage their students through service.
