Das Verhältnis von Subjekt und Organisation stellt eine komplexe Thematik dar. Die vorliegende Studie beleuchtet diese Materie anhand der Qualitätsentwicklung in Kindertagesstätten. Hierzu führt der Autor Ansätze der qualitativen Sozialforschung (Grounded Theory) mit Rückgriff auf systemische Beratungsansätze zu einer beratenden Forschungsmethode zusammen und schildert die Anwendung im Rahmen eines zweijährigen Projektes. Kernstück der Studie stellt eine Theorie unterschiedlicher Momente in der Kopplung von Subjekt und Organisation dar, die durch die Analyse der empirischen Daten entwickelt wurde. Anhand dieses Modells werden u. a. Lernprozesse der pädagogischen Fachkräfte und die der Organisation Kindertagesstätte in ihrem Zusammenhang differenziert beschrieben. Somit wird ein Aspekt thematisiert, der in der aktuellen Diskussion zur Professionalisierung der Frühpädagogik wenig beachtet wird, jedoch zunehmend auf Bearbeitung drängt.

Sie hat den Anspruch, die Sicht- und Handlungsweisen der Menschen aus der Perspektive des Subjekts zu untersuchen, wodurch sie sich von psychologischen Ansätzen abgrenzt, die das Individuum im Wesentlichen als Objekt seiner Verhältnisse begreifen. Eine verhältnismäßig große Rolle spielt die Subjektwissenschaft innerhalb der Forschungsthematik des Lernens und Lernhandelns. Im Folgenden wird zunächst der Ansatz der subjektwissenschaftlichen Forschung vorgestellt, wobei insbesondere auf die Methoden der Erkenntnisgewinnung sowie auf den Forschungsgegenstand eingegangen wird. Im weiteren Verlauf wird die Verbindung von Lernen und Handeln analysiert, wozu auf subjektwissenschaftliche Ansätze zurückgegriffen wird. Zum Schluss der Arbeit wird der Forschungsstand bezüglich der Lernprozesse Erwachsener dargelegt.
