The Law Of Coastal Adaptation written by Linda Schumacher and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-16 with Law categories.

This work investigates law as an instrument to deal with the challenges of sea level rise. As the two countries chosen as examples differ significantly in their adaptation strategies and the corresponding legal regulations, the author presents general ideas on how any legal framework facing similar challenges could be improved. In particular, (flood) risk assessments, coastal defences and flood-resistant design as well as spatial and land use planning are discussed, including managed retreat. Moreover, conflicts as well as potential synergies of coastal adaptation and nature conservation are examined.Due to the thorough analysis this book is not just an essential read for policymakers and researchers interested in the coastal area but climate change adaptation in general as many general findings are transferrable to other impacts.

Parabiblica Latina written by Benjamin Gleede and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-23 with Religion categories.

The author presents a comprehensive historical examination of the early Christian graeco-latin translations of the biblical 'apocrypha' and 'pseudepigrapha'. The analysis of the translation techniques employed yields a distinction between 'literal' and 'adaptive' translations on the hand and translations associated with the textual tradition of the bible and those not associated with it. Whereas the former can be distinguished by the respective handling of textual macrostructures, the latter 'biblical' translations were subject to constant revision according to their original and thus always display a number of different versions.

Monika Futschik introduces an evaluation model that allows a holistic assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of electronic batch recording solutions versus traditional paper batch ticket solutions. In comparison to former studies, this newly developed evaluation model considers the change management efforts and the financial investments required for system deployment. The model proves the overall performance value through the implementation of electronic batch recording solutions and supports decision-makers in finding the most effective solution. The development and effectiveness of this model is based on various surveys, expert interviews, a Delphi study as well as a case study with a real-life pharmaceutical company. The outcome of her research can be easily applied to other industries as well.

Environmental Policy And Renewable Energy Equipment Exports written by Henning Diederich and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-23 with Business & Economics categories.

This thesis investigates the connection between environmental regulation, technological innovation, and export competitiveness in renewable energy equipment based on a large sample of 225 developed and developing countries from 1990 to 2012. The empirical analysis yields strong supporting evidence for the narrowly strong Porter Hypothesis as well as for the lead market theory. The results suggest that environmental regulation drives innovation and export volumes in solar- and wind-power-related goods. This is particularly the case for well-crafted (i.e. market-based, output-oriented, and clear) instruments such as carbon trading regimes. Moreover, the data show that early adopters of renewable energy support policies benefit most.

Global Political Economy And The Modern State System written by Tobias Ten Brink and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-03 with Political Science categories.

In Global Political Economy and the Modern State System Tobias ten Brink contributes to an understanding of the modern state system, its conflicts, and its transformation. In contrast to the political attractiveness of optimistic theoretical approaches to globalisation, this book demonstrates how an analytical approach rooted in Global Political Economy (GPE) helps to explain both the tendencies towards integration and towards rivalry in international relations. By way of a historical reconstruction of different ‘world order’ phases in the twentieth century, ten Brink analyses multiple, phase-specific variations of socioeconomic and geopolitical conflicts that are significant for the modern capitalist world system. Revised edition of Geopolitik. Geschichte und Gegenwart kapitalistischer Staatenkonkurrenz, Verlag Westfälisches Dampfboot, Münster, 2008.

Political Ecology Of The Ridge written by Megha Sud and has been published by Franz Steiner Verlag Wiesbaden GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Delhi (India) categories.

The remains of the time-worn Aravalli Mountains that extend through Delhi are known as the Ridge. The range is also the site of Delhi's once continuous but now scattered forests, four segments of which are legally protected as wildlife conservation areas today. How did a biodiversity park and a wildlife sanctuary come to be established in a large and rapidly growing megacity with severe competition for land resources? What does this mean for various citizens who use the forests for different purposes? Megha Sud provides an insight into the answers to these questions by examining the negotiations that led to the establishment of conservation as the dominant discourse in the Ridge, highlighting the role of various actors and the unequal power relations embedded in these deliberations and their outcomes. In this study she brings together concepts from political ecology and urban political ecology, using literature on local politics and development to ground the argument in the context. She argues that the forested spaces of Delhi must be understood as implicated in the socio-political structures of the city if urban conservation policies are to be sustainable both socially and environmentally.
