Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Politik - Klima- und Umweltpolitik, Note: 1,0, Hochschule Bremen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die umfassende Industrialisierung der westlichen Welt im Verlauf des letzten Jahrhunderts hat das Leben der Menschen maßgeblich beeinflusst. Verbesserte Ernährung oder medizinische Versorgung ermöglichten einen massiven Anstieg der Bevölkerungszahlen, und die neu etablierte Industrie versprach durch höhere Effizienz eine Verbesserung des Lebensstandards der Menschen (Helm, 2000). Die Folgen dieser Entwicklung werden erst heute schrittweise deutlich. Während immer größere Fabriken gebaut wurden, stieg der Ausstoß diverser Treibhausgase in einem solchen Maße an, dass diese von der Natur nicht mehr vollständig abgebaut werden konnten und sich somit in der Atmosphäre ansammelten. Sonnenstrahlen, die normalerweise von der Erdoberfläche reflektiert und wieder in den Weltraum abgegeben würden, werden durch die Gasakkumulation in der Atmosphäre zurückgehalten und verursachen so einen Anstieg der Temperatur auf dem Planeten. Die Folgen, die dieser Temperaturanstieg auf das Leben der Menschen haben wird, können nur geschätzt werden, skizzieren aber bereits eine Zukunftsprognose, die umfassende internationale Intervention unausweichlich macht. Weiterhin hat sich der Konsens herausgebildet, dass die Vermeidung von Emissionen langfristig günstiger als die Beseitigung der Folgen zu erwarten ist (Helm, 2000). In der vorliegenden Ausarbeitung soll daher erst ein kurzer Überblick über die möglichen Folgen der Klimaerwärmung gegeben und anschließend das „Kyoto-Protokoll“, das erste völkerrechtlich bindende internationale Abkommen für Klimaschutz mit festen Zielen, vorgestellt und in seiner Zielsetzung erklärt werden.
