In den letzten Jahren ist die Konstruktionsgrammatik zu einem zentralen Forschungsparadigma geworden. Sie hat das Ziel, eine allgemeine Theorie der Verarbeitung und Repräsentation sprachlichen Wissens zu entwerfen, die auch (vermeintliche) Randphänomene einer Sprache einbezieht. Ausgangspunkt bildet die Auffassung der Irreduzibilität von (grammatischen) Konstruktionen als Einheiten von Form und Bedeutung. Konstruktionen, ihre Beziehungen zueinander, ihr Entstehen und Verblassen im Sprachgebrauch sowie ihre Relevanz und kognitive Realität für Sprecher und Sprecherinnen sind Gegenstand der konstruktionsgrammatischen Forschung. Der Band ist als Einführung in gebrauchsbasierte Ansätze der Konstruktionsgrammatik konzipiert. Er stellt zentrale Konzepte und Grundlagen sowie „Schulbildungen" und den aktuellen Forschungsstand in der germanistischen Linguistik vor. Daneben macht der Band Vorschläge zur Weiterentwicklung. Um die Tragfähigkeit des konstruktionsgrammatischen Beschreibungsmodells aufzuzeigen, werden anhand exemplarischer Analysen verschiedene Anwendungsbereiche diskutiert.

In diesem Buch wird ein integratives Konzept ausgearbeitet, das konzeptuelle Metapherntheorie und Konstruktionsgrammatik zusammenführt und für die Analyse metaphorischer Konstruktionen verfügbar macht. Dieser Zusammenhang wird auf drei unterschiedlichen Ebenen (Idiomatik, Text und Diskurs) bzw. Modalitäten (Schrift und Bild) überprüft. Zu den verwendeten Sprachdaten gehören idiomatische Konstruktionen, Leitartikel, Titelbilder und Titelgeschichten aus zwei überregionalen Nachrichtenmagazinen. Die umfassende Korpusuntersuchung weist nach, dass vier unterschiedliche Dimensionen für einen opportunen Analyseansatz zu berücksichtigen sind: die Prosodie, die Struktur, die Semantik sowie die Pragmatik einer linguistischen Konstruktion (PSSP-Modell). Besonders hervorgehoben werden die in der Konstruktionsgrammatik bis jetzt wenig behandelten Rollen von Prosodie und Pragmatik. Das vorgeschlagene Modell gibt in dieser Hinsicht der funktionalen Linguistik, der Kognitiven Linguistik sowie der Konstruktionsgrammatik neue theoretische Impulse.

Operationen wie Instantiierung und Fusion sind selbstverständlich regelhaft, wenn auch nicht im Sinne des traditionellen Regelbegriffs, in dem Regel an invariante Gültigkeit gebunden wird, sondern von Regelhaftigkeit im prototypentheoretischen Sinne. In den Beiträgen dieses Bandes werden anhand konkreter sprachlicher Phänomene theoretische Fragen der Form-Funktionsbeziehung innerhalb von Konstruktionen und zwischen Konstruktionen sowie empirische Aspekte der Ermittlung, des Erwerbs, der Vermittlung und des zwischensprachlichen Vergleichs von Konstruktionen diskutiert. Die gebrauchsbezogene Musterbasiertheit und Regelhaftigkeit sind ein gemeinsamer Ausgangspunkt der Beiträge. Die jeweilige Gewichtung der Form oder der Bedeutung oder des Verständnisses stehen zur Diskussion.

This study offers a Construction Grammar approach to the historical development and modern usage of future constructions in English, German, Dutch, Danish, and Swedish. On the basis of corpus data, constructions such as English be going to or German werden are analyzed as symbolic units that convey a range of temporal and modal meanings. A special focus lies on the main verbs that occur with these constructions. Statistical co-occurrence patterns between constructions and lexical items guide the semantic analyses in this study: It is argued that a construction that conventionally occurs with main verbs such as write or speak differs functionally from a construction that typically occurs with verbs such as rain or increase. The same approach is also applied historically: If a construction co-occurs with different main verbs at subsequent stages in time, this is seen as a sign of semantic change.
