Die damit verbundenen Veränderungen gehen auch am Apothekenmarkt nicht spurlos vorüber. Der Wettbewerb im Gesundheitsmarkt wird stärker, wodurch höhere Anforderungen auch auf die einzelne Apotheke zukommen. Die Aufgabe der heutigen Apotheken ist nicht mehr nur das reine Verkaufen von Arzneimitteln, vielmehr entwickeln sich die Apotheken mehr und mehr zum Kompetenzzentrum für Gesundheit. Sie sehen sich vermehrt der Herausforderung gegenübergestellt, sich dieser Veränderung anzupassen, um in der Zukunft im Markt wettbewerbsfähig und damit überlebensfähig zu bleiben1. Doch sich in diesen Zeiten zu behaupten und zu profilieren, ist nicht die einfachste Aufgabe des Apothekers. Immer dann, wenn von außen eine Gefahr droht, so steht man zusammen, denn zusammen ist man stark. Dieser Gedanke mag für viele Apotheker der Anlass gewesen sein, sich einer oder mehrerer Kooperationen anzuschließen. So hat sich seit 2004 die Anzahl der Apothekenkooperationen enorm erhöht. Es stellt sich allerdings die Frage, ob dieses Konzept wirklich aufgeht. Dieser Frage widmet sich die vorliegende Arbeit. Dabei soll zunächst auf die derzeitige Situation im deutschen Apothekenmarkt eingegangen werden. Anschließend werden die verschiedenen Apothekenkooperationen dargestellt. Hierbei wird insbesondere auf die für Apotheken neue Form des Franchisings eingegangen. Im Anschluss an diese Darstellung erfolgen eine Bewertung dieser Kooperationen, sowie eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit den Franchisesystemen. Abschließend folgt ein Fazit und Ausblick für den Apothekenmarkt.
