Immer weniger Katholiken in Deutschland besuchen regelmäßig den sonntäglichen Gottesdienst oder engagieren sich in einer kirchlichen Einrichtung. Vor allem die jungen Generationen bleiben der Kirche fern. Sie identifizieren sich nicht mit ihr und auch nicht über sie. Kirche geht an den meisten Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen vorbei. Worin liegt der Grund für diese Krise und wie kann die Kirche ihr entgegentreten? Unter dem Titel „Wie ticken Jugendliche?“ veröffentlichte 2008 der BDKJ gemeinsam mit MISEREOR die Sinus–Milieustudie U27, die an die Erwachsenenstudie von 2005 anknüpft, jedoch Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene zum Fokus hat. Die folgende Arbeit will diese Studie nun nutzen, um die Einstellungen junger Erwachsener zur katholischen Kirche herauszuarbeiten und sie will versuchen, Perspektiven aufzuzeigen, wie die Kirche auf die genannten Wünsche und Kritikpunkte reagieren kann. Dazu sollen zunächst die einzelnen Lebenswelten der jungen Erwachsenen vorgestellt werden. Die 13-19-Jährigen, also die Jugendlichen, werden in dieser Arbeit immer wieder erwähnt werden, sollen jedoch nicht im Fokus stehen. Zentral soll es um die nächste Erwachsenengeneration, die 20-27-Jährigen gehen. Eine Auswertung der Studienergebnisse erfolgt dann in den nächsten Kapiteln. Dabei soll es nicht nur konkret um die Kritikpunkte und die Wünsche der jungen Erwachsenen bezüglich der katholischen Kirche gehen, sondern auch um allgemeinere Überlegungen zur Überarbeitung und Organisation von Pastoral und Liturgie. Selbstverständlich darf die folgende Arbeit nicht als Universalrezept für eine bessere Kirche verstanden werden, aber sie soll Anregungen geben, wie die katholische Kirche den Kontakt zu den jüngeren Menschen aufbauen und halten kann, wie sie ihnen erneut die Chance geben kann, zu Gott zu finden und sich in ihrem Glauben und ihrer Kirche zu Hause zu fühlen.

The urge to understand all aspects of human experience more and better seems to be one of the motives underlying cognitive development in many domains of human existence. Understanding more and better is at the basis of knowledge creation and extension. One way of getting access to how understanding comes about and how knowledge is the result of a continuous dynamics of understanding and misunderstanding is by studying the cognitive potential and the development of natural language(s) and more particularly of terminology, in specialized domains. In this volume on dynamics and terminology, thirteen contributors illustrate that human cognition is a dynamic process in a variety of socio-cognitive and cultural settings. The case studies encompass a panoply of methodologies and deal with subjects ranging from the dynamics of legal understanding in multilingual Europe, over financial, economic and scientific terminology in several cultural and linguistic settings, to language policy issues in multilingual environments. All thirteen contributors link the dynamics of cognition to the creative potential of language as a repository of past and present experience in cultural settings and to the creation of neologisms in domain-specific languages. Attention is given to the functionality of indeterminacy, vagueness, polysemy, ambiguity, synonymy, metaphor and phraseology. In this volume terminology is researched and discussed from an interdisciplinary perspective, combining insights developed over the last decades in communicative terminology, socio-terminology, socio-cognitive terminology, cultural terminology, with tools and methods from cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, sociolinguistics, frame semantics, semiotics, knowledge engineering and statistics.
