Viele Ökonomen sehen diese neue Freiheit als einen großen zivilisatorischen Fortschritt, Hülsmann und die Ökonomen der Österreichischen Schule bewerten diese Entwicklung kritisch. In allgemein verständlicher Sprache erläutert Hülsmann die komplexen Zusammen-hänge zwischen Finanzen und Staat. Er charakterisiert die grundlegende Bedeutung des Sparens und erklärt, warum es nicht durch Geldschöpfung ersetzt werden kann. Er zeigt auf, dass die Verstaatlichung der Geldordnung dem Staat zugleich den Zugriff auf das Vermögen seiner Bürger erleichtert und erläutert, welche wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Folgen sich aus den prinzipiell unbegrenzten Geldschöpfungsmöglichkeiten der Zentralbanken ergeben. Vor diesem Hintergrund skizziert Hülsmann außer-dem eine politische Alternative zu den derzeit fadenscheinigen kosmetischen Reparaturen an Symptomen: eine grundlegende Reform unseres Währungssystems.

This book analyses the causes and consequences of deflation. In contrast to the widespread belief that deflation would be harmful to the economy as a whole, the author argues that free market deflation is liberating and beneficial.
