"Kunst als Mythos der Moderne" ist der zweite Band einer im Entstehen begriffenen Theorie der Moderne (der erste erschien 1996 unter dem Titel "Der Idealismus als Metaphysik der Moderne" bei K&N), der sich unter kulturphilosophischem Aspekt mit der Problematik der Kunst in der Moderne von Kant an bis in die Jetztzeit beschäftigt. Es wird eine Lektüre von für die Entwicklung der Kunst paradigmatisch gehaltener Texte vorgestellt, die am Beispiel von Interpretationsskizzen von Werken aus der Bildenden Kunst, der Musik und der Literatur belegt wird. Das Buch strebt eine kulturphilosophische Integration zum Beispiel von Symboltheorie, Mythosforschung, Tiefenpsychologie, Kunst-, Kulturgeschichte und systematischer Philosophie an. Es soll unter Beweis gestellt werden, dass es der Moderne nie gelang, zu einer hinreichenden kulturellen Selbstreflexion zu kommen und dass die Kunst der Moderne diesen Sachverhalt spiegelt. Das Buch wendet sich an Philosophie-, Kultur- und Kunstinteressierte gleichermaßen.

This book reconstructs the lines of nihilism that Walter Benjamin took from Friedrich Nietzsche that define both his theory of art and the avant-garde, and his approach to political action. It retraces the eccentric route of Benjamin's philosophical discourse in the representation of the modern as a place of “permanent catastrophe”, where he attempts to overcome the Nietzschean nihilism through messianic hope. Using conventions from literary criticism this book explores the many sources of Benjamin's thought, demonstrating that behind the materialism which Benjamin incorporates into his Theses on the Concept of History is hidden Nietzsche's nihilism. Mauro Ponzi analyses how Benjamin’s Arcades Project uses figures such as Baudelaire, Marx, Aragon, Proust and Blanqui as allegories to explain many aspects of modernity. The author argues that Benjamin uses Baudelaire as a paradigm to emphasize the dark side of the modern era, offering us a key to the interpretation of communicative and cultural trends of today.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (Neuere Deutsche Literatur und Medien), Veranstaltung: Film Noir, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ridley Scotts BLADE RUNNER (USA 1982) reiht sich in eine lange Tradition von Erzählungen ein, die die Kreation künstlichen Lebens thematisieren. Ein Diskurs, der nicht erst in jüngerer Zeit aufkam, denn artifizielle Menschen finden sich nicht nur im Science-Fiction-Kino der Gegenwart, sondern bereits in den Epen der Antike. So erzählt der römische Dichter Ovid in seinen Metamorphosen von Pygmalion, der eine Frau aus Elfenbein schnitzt, die von der Göttin Venus zum Leben erweckt wird . Der jüdischen Tradition entstammt der Golem, „eine ungestalte, unfertige Lehmfigur, die durch Wortmagie zu einem künstlichen, menschenähnlichen Geschöpf belebt wird“. Die Legende des Golems wurde 1920 von Paul Wegener unter dem Titel DER GOLEM, WIE ER IN DIE WELT KAM filmisch umgesetzt . Besonders um 1800, in der Romantik, finden „Androiden der verschiedensten Art - und mit ganz verschiedenen Funktionen“ Eingang in die Literatur. Dazu gehören E.T.A. Hoffmanns Olimpia in "Der Sandmann" oder auch Jean Pauls hölzerne Ehefrau in Auswahl aus "des Teufels Papieren". Zu den prominentesten Vertretern des frühen Films zählen neben Wegeners „Golem“ Fritz Langs "METROPOLIS" (Deutschland 1926) und "FRANKENSTEIN" (USA 1931) von James Whale . Eine zentrale Figur, die mit vielen der genannten Beispiele in Verbindung gebracht werden kann, entspringt der griechischen und römischen Mythologie: Prometheus. So trägt Mary Shelleys Roman Frankenstein (1818), Vorlage der gleichnamigen Filmadaption und häufiger Gegenstand der Forschungsliteratur auf diesem Gebiet, den Untertitel Der moderne Prometheus. In dieser Hausarbeit soll daher näher auf den Prometheus-Mythos eingegangen werden. Auf dieser Grundlage findet eine Analyse des Films BLADE RUNNER und des Romans Frankenstein statt, die hinsichtlich der Prometheus-Sage verglichen werden sollen. Kann abschließend auf dieser Basis die Aussage getroffen werden, dass Prometheus als Motiv in Literatur und Film Verwendung findet?
