Le 23 mars 2022, la politicienne de l'opposition somalienne Amina Mohamed Abdi a été assassinée alors qu'elle menait sa campagne électorale à Beldweyene, au centre de la Somalie. Cet attentat a été revendiqué par le groupe terroriste Al-Shabaab. Amina Mohamed Abdi était en pleine campagne électorale. Elle était connue pour sa position critique à l'égard du gouvernement somalien en place. Confrontée à cet attentat, j'ai décidé de publier un essai d'Ahmed Zaki Yamani que j'avais traduit il y a quelques années, du vivant de l'ancien ministre du Pétrole du Royaume d'Arabie Saoudite. Son article intitulé « The Political Competence of Women in Islamic Law », que je voudrais présenter dans ce petit livre en traduction française, est toujours d'actualité en raison des conflits politiques et armés actuels dans le monde musulman. En outre, cette contribution d'Ahmed Zaki Yamani est pionnière, car elle ne parle pas seulement des droits, mais surtout des compétences et des devoirs des femmes dans le cadre de la politique islamique. Parce que les droits des femmes signifient avant tout des devoirs des femmes et donc aussi l'acquisition de compétences par les femmes musulmanes afin de faire entendre leur voix dans la politique et société islamiques. Dans cet essai, Yamani encourage les sociétés musulmanes à impliquer les femmes dans la politique islamique et à promouvoir les compétences féminines pour permettre le progrès et le développement de la société islamique dans son ensemble. ...l'implication des femmes dans la politique n'offre pas seulement une possibilité ou une option : elle est une nécessité urgente pour l' Oumma musulmane, qui traverse une crise politique et sociale profonde. Winner of the W.J.M. Mackenzie Book Prize 2017 This book provides an account of Muslim women’s political and civic engagement in Britain and France. It examines their interaction with civil society and state institutions to provide an understanding of their development as political actors. The authors argue that Muslim women’s participation is expressed at the intersections of the groups and society to which they belong. In Britain and France, their political attitudes and behaviour are influenced by their national/ethnic origins, religion and specific features of British and French societies. Thus three main spheres of action are identified: the ethnic group, religious group and majority society. Unequal, gendered power relations characterise the interconnection(s) between these spheres of action. Muslim women are positioned within these complex relations and find obstacles and/or facilitators governing their capacity to act politically. The authors suggest that Muslim women’s interest in politics, knowledge of it and participation in both institutional and informal politics is higher than expected. This book will appeal to students and scholars of politics, sociology, gender studies and social anthropology, and will also be of use to policy makers and practitioners in the field of gender and ethno-religious/ethno-cultural policy.

Islamophobia can be defined as the fear of or prejudiced viewpoint towards Islam, Muslims and matters pertaining to them.
