La Bible Darby est la traduction française réalisée par JN Darby au XIXème siècle à partir des textes originaux hébreux et grecs. Elle est agrémentée de notes, généralement pour donner le sens littéral de termes pour lesquels il a été préféré un formulation française plus explicite. John Nelson Darby a réalisé cette traduction au cours du XIXe siècle. Pour la première fois le Nouveau Testament a été édité en 1859 et l'Ancien Testament en 1885. John Nelson Darby est né en 1800 et mort en 1882. Il est le fondateur de nouvelles communautés chrétiennes, les Frères de Plymouth, encore répandues en France sous le nom de Darbystes. Désireux d'offrir une nouvelle traduction en français, il publiera en 1859 les Livres Saints connus sous le nom de Nouveau Testament en les basant sur le texte de 1633. Darby colle au plus proche de l'original. Il s'attache au littéralisme en n'interprétant pas le texte mais en le traduisant scrupuleusement. Une comparaison a été faite entre une édition de 1908, de 1991, de 2008 et de 2011. Sur plus de 500 versets, aucune différence n'a été trouvée. Tout porte à croire que la Darby n'a jamais subi de révision.
