Mind And Causality written by Alberto Peruzzi and has been published by John Benjamins Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-02-25 with Philosophy categories.

Which causal patterns are involved in mental processes? On what mechanisms does the self-organisation of cognitive structure rest? Can a naturalistic view account for the basic resources of intentionality, while avoiding the objections to reductive materialism? By considering the developmental, phenomenological and biological aspects linking mind and causality, this volume offers a state-of-the art theoretical proposal emphasising the fine-tuning of cognition with the complexity of bodily dynamics. In contrast to the de-coupling of mind from the physical environment in classical information-processing models, growth of brain’s architecture and stabilisation of perception–action cycles are considered decisive, with no need for an eliminative approach to representations pursued by neural network models. The tools provided by physics and biology for the description of massive causal interactions, on top of which ‘qualitative’ changes occur, are exploited to suggest a model of the mind as a many-layered, co-evolving system. Psycho Physical Dualism Today written by Alessandro Antonietti and has been published by Lexington Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-26 with Philosophy categories.

Until quite recently, mind-body dualism has been regarded with deep suspicion by both philosophers and scientists. This has largely been due to the widespread identification of dualism in general with one particular version of it: the interactionist substance dualism of RZnZ Descartes. This traditional form of dualism has, ever since its first formulation in the seventeenth century, attracted numerous philosophical objections and is now almost universally rejected in scientific circles as empirically inadequate. During the last few years, however, renewed attention has begun to be paid to the dualistic point of view, as a result of increasing discontent with the prevailing materialism and reductionism of contemporary scientific and philosophical thought. Awareness has grown that dualism need not be restricted to its traditional form and that other varieties of dualism are not subject to the difficulties commonly raised against Descartes' own version of it. Interest in these alternative versions of dualism is growing fast today, because it seems that they are capable of capturing deep-seated philosophical intuitions, while also being fully consistent with the methodological assumptions and empirical findings of modern scientific work on the human mind and brain. The object of this book is to provide philosophers, scientists, their students, and the wider general public with an up-to-date overview of current developments in dualistic conceptions of the mind in contemporary philosophy and science.

Mind Learning And Knowledge In Educational Contexts written by Elisa Frauenfelder and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with Educational psychology categories.

Bioeducational sciences are a broad field of study, uniting concepts from many disciplines (education, psychology, and neuroscience). At the heart of bioeducational sciences lie the fundamental questions of mind-brain and nature-nurture relationships linked to educational practical aspects. Bioeducational sciences may have three main lines of research: 1. epigenetic perspectives: studies on filogenetic evolution (evolutionary perspectives) and mind/brain ontogenesis (ontogenetic perspectives); 2. biodynamic perspectives: analysis of biological bases of learning process (biological perspectives) and individual rethinking as a whole (whole organismic perspectives); 3.synergic perspectives: mind is distributed and situated and knowledge structures are embedded in domain specific contexts (cultural and domain specific perspectives). The aim of this volume is to identify key foundational questions and classical areas of study characterizing bioeducational sciences as a field of research that considers both the extent to which biologically prepared structures constrain individual cognitive functioning and the relations between individual cognitive development and cultural domains. Believing education part of the cultural elaboration process and recognizing the importance of neuroscience research findings for educational practice, this volume focuses on topics such as the epigenesis of mind, cognitive development, learning processes, knowledge structures, theories of mind and folk theories, interaction between emotion and cognition, cognition and metacognition, and between symbolic and biological systems, across various disciplines and through a cross-cultural perspective.

Le Tractatus De Wittgenstein Et L Thique De Spinoza written by Markus Aenishänslin and has been published by Birkhäuser this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Philosophy categories.
