Che cos'è l'energia vitale e come si manifesta nel nostro organismo? Questa è la prima e più importante domanda a cui questo libro si propone di rispondere. E' una domanda semplice che richiede, però, una risposta precisa e puntuale.Il termine energia vitale è, infatti, un termine fortemente evocativo e di grande richiamo, ma rischia spesso, nella pratica, di restare imprecisato e non compreso.Il primo capitolo di questo libro è, per questo motivo, il "luogo delle definizioni fondamentali".Per uscire dal rischio degli equivoci e della vaghezza, nel primo capitolo entriamo nel vivo di concetti importantissimi in medicina cinese come: *la nozione di equilibrio Yin-Yang nella fisiologia energetica dell'uomo*le dimensioni del Pieno e del Vuoto energetico*le cosiddette "sostanze preziose": il Qi, il Sangue (Xue), i Liquidi organici (Jinye), il Jing e lo Shen*il cielo anteriore e il cielo posterioreAlla fine del primo capitolo, diventa così ben chiaro, al lettore, quali siano, di fatto, gli elementi costitutivi della cosiddetta energia vitale. Diventa chiaro, inoltre, quali siano le funzioni di ognuno di questi elementi, le loro dinamiche interne e le molteplici interrelazioni tra di essi, nella composizione di un equilibrio dinamico che è diverso in ognuno di noi.L'energia vitale, del resto, per quanto abbia radici profonde e stabili antecedenti alla nostra nascita, non è definita una volta per tutte ed è, invece, in trasformazione costante in ognuno di noi, per tutto l'arco della nostra vita. Questo è il secondo aspetto importante su cui, nel libro, riflettiamo insieme. Secondo i principi energetici cinesi, la nostra energia è tutt'altro che un blocco monolitico... è, piuttosto, un blocco di creta da modellare.Ognuno di noi può contare, infatti, da un lato su caratteristiche individuali originarie (innate, del cielo anteriore) e, dall'altro, su caratteristiche derivanti dal proprio vissuto (acquisite, del cielo posteriore). L'energia innata e l'energia acquisita sono in costante interazione. Si basano l'una sull'altra e costituiscono le due colonne portanti della nostra energia complessiva. Un'energia "modellata e forgiata" quotidianamente, come si farebbe con un blocco di creta. E gli artigiani siamo noi.Questo è il terzo tema importante contenuto in questo libro.Se è vero, infatti, che esiste un'energia innata su cui non possiamo agire direttamente e che è data una volta per tutte (la qualità e la quantità della "creta" che ci è stata donata alla nascita), è anche vero che, con le nostre scelte, possiamo in ogni momento intervenire per modificare il nostro "livello di energia", sostenendo il nostro potenziale e consentendo la sua espressione migliore. Con il nostro blocco di creta possiamo decidere di fare, in altri termini, un piatto o un'anfora, decorandoli come meglio possiamo.Il contributo della medicina cinese in questo è molto importante e inserisce inevitabilmente l'individuo in un proficuo percorso di consapevolezza rispetto a numerosi strumenti a sua disposizione per il benessere, in prevenzione ed in trattamento degli eventuali squilibri energetici.

Originally published in 1963, and today considered a landmark in twentieth century Italian literature, Luigi Meneghello’s Deliver Us is the memoir, not of an extraordinary childhood, but of the very ordinary one the author shared with most of his generation, when Italy was a rural country under the twin authorities of Church and Fascism. His boyhood begins in 1922, the year of Mussolini’s March on Rome, and ends when Meneghello, 21, goes up into the hills to join the partisans.
