Aquest llibre consta de quatre parts ben definides que abasten el complex fenomen de l'estrès. En primer lloc, es duu a terme una reflexió sobre qüestions com la manera com cal entendre l'estrès en general i el laboral en particular, allò que té l’estrès de subjectiu i allò que té d’objectiu, les respostes que donem davant de situacions estressores, els processos neurològics, les dimensions personals on afecta l’estrès i l’estrès social. En segon lloc, es presenten els qüestionaris elaborats pel grup GRELDO sobre els estressors laborals docents i sobre les simptomatologies més freqüents. A continuació, s'aborden un per un els elements estressors, fent especial atenció a aquells elements de l'entorn que afecten especialment el món docent i a aquells que generen estrès social. Finalment, s’ofereix una llarga llista de recursos personals que tothom té a l'abast per afrontar amb èxit les tensions derivades d'un excés d'estrès. Les diverses propostes, que s’exposen i s’acompanyen de tècniques per a dur a la pràctica, inclouen aspectes com l’alimentació, el son, l'horari dins la feina, la gestió del cos i la la ment, les relacions, així com recursos per a afrontar l’estrès social.

Jordi Redondo Sánchez és professor titular de Filología Grega a la Universitat de València i col·laborador de la Fundació Bernat Metge. La seua activitat de recerca se centra en la història de la llengua a les èpoques clàssica i postclàssíca, la sintaxi, la retòrica i la recepció de la literatura grega. Ha estat impulsor i iniciador de la docència de la religió i la mitologia gregues a la Universitat de València, on també és membre del Grup d'Innovació de Recursos en Història Antiga.
