Le narrateur, c'est le fils, un écrivain qui parcourt l'Argentine à bord de sa Torino, avec pour mission l'écriture d'un improbable Guide des passions argentines...En fait il écrit un roman qu'il construit au fur et à mesure de ses rencontres, des circonstances et de ses réactions imprévisibles. A travers ces fragments d'un parcours en apparence absurde traversé par un humour noir se dessine l'histoire d'un vrai voyage intime qui est tout d'abord une fuite, puis des retrouvailles. On retrouve l'imagination et l'humour de Soriano. Une tendresse, un mélange de pathétique et d'ironie grinçante qui est l'un des charmes de l'âme argentine.
