Des rangs de menhirs et des morts en série. Le corps de la jeune femme reposait, sur le sol, entre deux menhirs. Nouveau monument dans le paysage urbain de Rennes, cet alignement mégalithique composé de soixante-douze pierres, d’une hauteur chacune de quatre mètres cinquante, accueillait ainsi son premier cadavre. Qui se cache derrière le meurtrier ? Le commissaire Workan va vite se persuader qu’il s’agit d’un tueur en série. Le monument intrigue et un journaliste va avancer les théories les plus fantaisistes : numérologie, rites celtiques, cérémonies druidiques, et entraîner avec lui la conviction du capitaine Lerouyer. Workan ne croit qu’à son intuition et balaie d’un revers de main ces suppositions. L’enquête va l’entraîner vers une mystérieuse société américaine, la OWP, sans qu’il n’y découvre rien de probant. Il ignorera même qu’il vient de croiser la route d’un effroyable psychopathe. Car il était comme ça monsieur William, manipulateur, dissimulateur et tout... Un roman policier passionnant, osé mais bourré d’humour et à l’imagination débordante ! EXTRAIT « Et alors ? demanda Workan à moitié endormi. — Alors !? Virée ! Mutée ! Mise en fuite ! La chasse à courre au cul et le stringbar à la main ! cria Prigent à l’autre bout du fil. » Workan soupira, incrédule. Il était neuf heures et le fringant commissaire avait oublié de se lever. Assis sur son lit, les pieds nus sur le parquet, le regard vide pendant que la voix de Prigent distillait dans ses tympans l’équivalent en décibels de cent mille avions à réaction. Il se passa la main dans les cheveux et éloigna le combiné de son oreille. Il fut tenté de le poser sur l’oreiller, mais mû par un réflexe somme toute professionnel, il s’attacha à bredouiller : — Vous êtes sûr qu’elle a fait ça, monsieur le divisionnaire ? — Aussi vrai que je m’appelle Prigent, Workan ! — Vous vous appelez Prigent Workan, maintenant, monsieur le divisionnaire ?... C’est bien ce que je pense cette histoire est plus ou moins farfelue. Le silence se fit. Workan devinait que le divisionnaire était muet de colère. Puis il entendit une sorte de bouillonnement. Des bulles de potage aux légumes qui remontent et éclatent à la surface : pop, pop. Enfin la voix du divisionnaire fusa dans l’écouteur : — Workan ! Venez immédiatement au commissariat, pop ! CE QU'EN PENSE LA CRITIQUE Bref, une histoire déroutante, menée tambour battant, qui mène sans doute à un sixième tome des aventures du commissaire Workan. Mon verdict : à lire n'importe où et n'importe quand. - Babelio De l'humour, et une bonne intrigue criminelle avec son lot de péripéties, voilà un bon moment de lecture en perspective. Y compris pour ceux qui découvriront Workan à cette occasion. - Claude Le Nocher, Action-Suspense À PROPOS DE L’AUTEUR Hugo Buan est né en 1947 à Saint-Malo où il vit et écrit. Passionné de polars, après une carrière professionnelle de dessinateur dans le Génie Civil, il publie en 2008 son premier roman, Hortensias Blues, une enquête policière bourrée d’humour à l’imagination débordante. Il crée ainsi le personnage du commissaire Lucien Workan, fonctionnaire quelque peu en disgrâce auprès de sa hiérarchie, ce qui lui vaut d’être muté depuis Toulouse, où il a laissé sa famille, à Rennes. Ses méthodes sont encore largement désapprouvées par son nouveau patron, mais pour Workan, seul le résultat compte ! Un honnête premier succès pour l’auteur qui embraye dès 2009 avec Cézembre noire, dans lequel « il laisse libre cours à son style débridé ». Ajoutons que ses ouvrages se sont retrouvés sélectionnés pour pas moins de 5 prix, parmi lesquels le Prix Michel Lebrun au Mans et le Prix Polar de Cognac.
