Greening Social Work Education examines how social work educators can best incorporate sustainability content into social work curricula, integrate green teaching methods, and mobilize students and colleagues towards climate action, justice, and leadership. Drawing on Canadian content, this collection highlights Indigenous, eco-feminist, collective-action, and multi-interdisciplinary approaches to social work. Les travailleurs sociaux viennent souvent en aide aux personnes qui vivent des tragédies ou qui sont victimes de catastrophes. Dans de telles circonstances, leur niveau de vulnérabilité est accru puisqu’ils sont en présence de personnes traumatisées ou souffrantes qui vivent d’importantes réactions émotionnelles, dans des contextes d’intervention souvent difficiles et imprévisibles. Des conséquences à la fois négatives et positives peuvent être vécues par ces professionnels. La fatigue de compassion, le stress post-traumatique secondaire (la traumatisation vicariante) et l’épuisement professionnel sont des exemples d’effets négatifs susceptibles d’être vécus par les travailleurs sociaux. Toutefois, intervenir dans de tels contextes peut être également très gratifiant et peut permettre de réaffirmer ses compétences professionnelles, de relativiser l’importance de ses problèmes personnels et de découvrir le pouvoir de la solidarité et de la résilience des individus et des communautés. Les études sur les répercussions de l’engagement des intervenants sociaux lors de situations d’urgence sur leur santé et leur vie personnelle et professionnelle sont encore peu nombreuses. Ce livre vient combler cette lacune en portant sur le vécu et l’état de santé au travail des intervenants sociaux du Québec qui ont été appelés à intervenir en situation de crise, de tragédie ou de sinistre au cours des dernières années.
