l volume che offriamo al lettore nasce come tentativo di trasmettergli delle sensazioni da noi vissute o rivissute, ognuno per suo conto, nate da un viaggio reale (almeno uno) e da letture pi. o meno approfondite e professionali. Sono sensazioni, ma anche idee e immagini che riguardano un Paese, la Romania, osservato da molti punti di vista e in tante sue sfaccettature, senza alcuna pretesa di completezza. L’approccio è inevitabilmente multidisciplinare e il lettore troverà il saggio breve, la testimonianza, il racconto, la poesia e altro ancora. In comune tra tutte queste forme di espressione è l’alta qualità e preparazione scientifica degli autori i quali gentilmente si sono prestati a collaborare alla riuscita della pubblicazione, a prescindere dalla varietà dei contributi e della forma che a ognuno di essi è stata data. Poi ci sono le immagini: non potevano non svolgere un ruolo fondamentale, se veramente si voleva trasmettere un’esperienza in misura quanto più completa possibile. La nostra speranza è che esse attirino il lettore e lo inducano a leggere alcuni o tutti i brevi testi che compongono l’opera. E saremmo veramente lieti se, alla fine, egli fosse allegro e soddisfatto come noi lo siamo, poichè coinvolto in un divertimento che vorrebbe essere raffinato e intellettuale. Si tratta di un invito, un invito al viaggio; e ci auguriamo che anche per il lettore – citando Milan Kundera – non ci sia “niente di più bello dell’istante che precede il viaggio, l’istante in cui l’orizzonte del domani viene a renderci visita e a raccontarci le sue promesse” . Il volume, nelle nostre intenzioni come in quelle di coloro che nell’Università Roma Tre ci hanno sostenuto, dovrebbe essere solo il primo di una serie denominata, appunto, Invito al viaggio. I prossimi “numeri” della collana editoriale saranno dedicati ad altri Paesi, sempre nello stesso spirito di non scrivere una monografia o una miscellanea di taglio scientifico, e neppure una guida turistica, bensì un collage di testi e immagini che penetrino nell’anima di un popolo e rendano, al contempo, l’immagine che di esso si è costruita ai nostri occhi. La scelta della Romania è stata casuale, dettata da un viaggio appunto. Però non si può non sottolineare che da diversi anni il popolo romeno . entrato nel perimetro visuale e ideale di tutti gli italiani. Di fatto, i romeni costituiscono la seconda nazionalità presente nella nostra Penisola (mentre molti italiani vivono nelle città romene). Sono con noi quotidianamente, a testimonianza di una capacità di integrazione reciproca di grande livello e qualità. E ci auguriamo anche che alcuni tra loro possano godere di questa pubblicazione che può farli conoscere un po’ meglio agli italiani. Habent sua fata libelli . Giudizi e osservazioni saranno graditi e utili poichè, soprattutto sul versante della pubblicazione on line, il volume può essere un’opera aperta, atta a creare un’interazione, quasi un intarsio con altri volumi futuri, attraverso un lavoro di scomposizione e ricomposizione, oltre che di aggiornamento costante. On 1 August 1935, only a few months before Mussolini launched the colonial enterprise in Ethiopia, Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar was produced at the Maxentius Basilica in Rome. The performance was organised by The National Workers’ Recreational Club (O.N.D.) and the script was submitted for censorship. However, the procedure followed a different course from the usual one as the commissioner was also part of the Fascist political system. This parallel edition presents for the first time the integral script of the censored text of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, in Raffaello Piccoli's 1925 Italian translation, and explores the implications of this peculiar type of censorship at the moment when, through Shakespeare, censoring became one and the same with political propaganda.
