“Come possiamo uscire da questo labirinto di ingiustizie?” È accettabile, in un paese martoriato da una crisi infinita, che un deputato regionale cinquantenne incassi un vitalizio dopo solo qualche mese di legislatura? E prendendo più del doppio di un operaio inchiodato quarantadue anni in fabbrica? Come possono i cittadini esposti da anni al massacro dei loro diritti, dall’innalzamento inarrestabile dell’età pensionabile al taglio degli assegni previdenziali, rassegnarsi all’intoccabilità dei privilegi ingiustificati di altri cittadini, considerati di serie A? Quello delle rendite perenni e spropositate, dei vitalizi scandalosi o delle poltrone perpetue è il più odioso dei vizi nazionali. Pubblici e privati: perché chi entra nel circolo vizioso del potere burocratico finisce per rimanervi felicemente intrappolato per sempre. Ci sono dirigenti pubblici pressoché inamovibili anche ben oltre la pensione. E poi ancora consiglieri regionali, assessori provinciali, generali, ambasciatori, top manager di banche e imprese che possono contare su infinite prebende e inappellabili incarichi a vita, sindacalisti a cui la politica garantisce sistemazioni eterne con vitalizi da favola. La colpa spesso è delle regole. Regole sbagliate, assurde, scritte per un mondo che non c’è più o forse non c’è mai stato. Per rimettere in moto l’Italia si deve ripartire da qui. Mettere in discussione i privilegi eterni.

[English]:The book illustrates the reconstruction of the system of granting Neapolitan citizenship during the sixteenth century. In particular, the role played by the ‘Regia Camera della Sommaria’, the highest tax magistrature of the Kingdom of Naples, in the evaluation of requests and in the assignment of the citizenship licenses, which allowed access to the substantial tax and jurisdictional privileges of the capital city. The policy of the Spanish government with respect to these privileges is based on prudence and attention to the political and social balance of a fundamental and complex capital as Naples is. The ‘Sommaria’, however, manages in establishing a system of control and government of privileges, which makes the Neapolitan citizenship for a large part a product of the state; also subtracting expertise in the field to the city's municipal government. / [Italiano]: Il volume offre la ricostruzione del sistema di concessione della cittadinanza napoletana nel corso del Cinquecento. È stato studiato, in particolare, il ruolo svolto dalla Regia Camera della Sommaria, la massima magistratura fiscale del Regno di Napoli, nella valutazione delle richieste e nell’attribuzione della patente di cittadinanza, che consentiva l’accesso ai consistenti privilegi fiscali e giurisdizionali della città capitale. La politica del governo spagnolo rispetto a questi ultimi è basata sulla prudenza e sull’attenzione agli equilibri politici e sociali di una capitale fondamentale e complessa come Napoli. La Sommaria, tuttavia, riesce ad affermare un sistema di controllo e di governo dei privilegi, che rende in buona parte la cittadinanza napoletana un prodotto dello stato; anche sottraendo competenze in materia al governo municipale della città.

E’ comodo definirsi scrittori da parte di chi non ha arte né parte. I letterati, che non siano poeti, cioè scrittori stringati, si dividono in narratori e saggisti. E’ facile scrivere “C’era una volta….” e parlare di cazzate con nomi di fantasia. In questo modo il successo è assicurato e non hai rompiballe che si sentono diffamati e che ti querelano e che, spesso, sono gli stessi che ti condannano. Meno facile è essere saggisti e scrivere “C’è adesso….” e parlare di cose reali con nomi e cognomi. Impossibile poi è essere saggisti e scrivere delle malefatte dei magistrati e del Potere in generale, che per logica ti perseguitano per farti cessare di scrivere. Devastante è farlo senza essere di sinistra. Quando si parla di veri scrittori ci si ricordi di Dante Alighieri e della fine che fece il primo saggista mondiale. Le vittime, vere o presunte, di soprusi, parlano solo di loro, inascoltati, pretendendo aiuto. Io da vittima non racconto di me e delle mie traversie. Ascoltato e seguito, parlo degli altri, vittime o carnefici, che l’aiuto cercato non lo concederanno mai. “Chi non conosce la verità è uno sciocco, ma chi, conoscendola, la chiama bugia, è un delinquente”. Aforisma di Bertolt Brecht. Bene. Tante verità soggettive e tante omertà son tasselli che la mente corrompono. Io le cerco, le filtro e nei miei libri compongo il puzzle, svelando l’immagine che dimostra la verità oggettiva censurata da interessi economici ed ideologie vetuste e criminali. Rappresentare con verità storica, anche scomoda ai potenti di turno, la realtà contemporanea, rapportandola al passato e proiettandola al futuro. Per non reiterare vecchi errori. Perché la massa dimentica o non conosce. Denuncio i difetti e caldeggio i pregi italici. Perché non abbiamo orgoglio e dignità per migliorarci e perché non sappiamo apprezzare, tutelare e promuovere quello che abbiamo ereditato dai nostri avi. Insomma, siamo bravi a farci del male e qualcuno deve pur essere diverso!

The crisis of the Eurozone has had a significant impact on the politics of Europe. In many countries, the euro was largely interpreted by elites as a development that would ameliorate their nations’ problems. However, recent events have proven the contrary, with the rise of radical right-wing politics and populism across the continent. This book investigates the politics of the euro, with a primary focus on Italy, but also with additional chapters on the UK and Germany. Using a range of original and secondary data, it reconstructs how the euro was interpreted by both elites and non-elites from the late nineties to 2010. By recruiting a large sample of non-elites, it examines perceptions of the euro and the ways in which these views allowed for the justification of painful austerity measures required to enter the Economic and Monetary Union. In doing so, it sheds light on the ways in which non-elites interpret complex political objects like the euro and provides a systemic comparison of the cognitive schema of non-elites and elites. This book will be of key interest to scholars and students of the European Union, European politics, Italian politics, comparative politics and political economy.
