Civilizations, or rather narratives about civilizations, matter, not only as research subjects in textbooks, literary and scientific essays, but also in politics. In questo modo, insieme all'identità, viene meno anche il concetto di individuo. Come già in biologia, al suo posto troviamo il 'condividuo', un soggetto che, oltre a condividere con altri somiglianze e differenze, è esso stesso espressione di una vera e propria simbiosi interna, a partire dalla quale dovrebbe risultare più facile pensare alla convivenza con gli altri.
