Universe, light, matter, life, numbers, teaching, are the spaces which the poetical vision of this book spans. Here, science is seen as a dialog with the world around us. David Jou (Sitges, 1953) és autor d’una àmplia obra científica i poètica. La seva obra poètica està aplegada en edició conjunta en els volums L’èxtasi i el càlcul i L’huracà sobre els mapes (Columna edicions, 2002, 2004) i ha estat parcialment traduïda a diverses llengües. Com a assagista, ha publicat El laberint del temps, La simfonia de la matèria (Viena edicions, 2006), Ciència, fe, poesia (Fundació Joan Maragall-Claret, 2003) i L’escultor Pere Jou (Grup d’Estudis Sitgetans, 1991). És catedràtic de física a la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, membre de l’Institut d’Estudis Catalans i de la Reial Acadèmia de Doctors.

S'élever dès à présent pour s'y préparer, c'est suivre les conseils déjà formulés avec les outils proposés : comprendre et enseigner la vraie Connaissance que là où est la conscience, là est l'infinie liberté créatrice de l'Être ; s'appliquer à être mieux incarné, en équilibre émotionnel, et toujours parfaitement présent et positif pour ne pas laisser place à la possession extérieure ; devenir vraiment autonome et même autarcique financièrement et économiquement ; compenser les effets électromagnétiques qu'on veut nous imposer et rééquilibrer son corps ; et enfin, changer d'attitude dans le monde : s'interdire de rester complice des corruptions et de l'exploitation du monde animal, notamment en mangeant de la viande. Tu te changes toi-même, tu changes le monde.

The unity of science has been a widely discussed issue both in the philosophy of science and within several sciences. Reductionism has often been seen as the means of bringing the different sciences to a fundamental unity by reference to some basic science, but it shows many limitations. Multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity have also been proposed as methodologies for attaining unity without underestimating the diversity of the sciences.This volume starts with a clarification of the possible meanings of this unity and then discusses the features of the mentioned approaches to unity, evaluating the success and the shortcomings of the unification programme among different sciences and within a single science.

This work, the fruit of intense research work spanning several years, examines the first serious attempt by the descendants of the Sephardim—the Jews expelled from Spain in 1492—to “return to Sepharad” more than three decades after the abolition of the Inquisition. At the beginning of the nineteenth century a trend towards historical revisionism, backed by Liberals, whose influence was pivotal at the Cortes de Cádiz (the national assembly convened to assert Spanish sovereignty, introduce reform, and establish a modern Spanish nation), combined with economic factors, culminated in the abolition of the Inquisition in 1834. This paved the way, ideologically, for the freedom of worship to be proclaimed in Spain on the heels of La Septembrina, or La Gloriosa, the September Revolution of 1868 in which Queen Isabel II was deposed. European Sephardic Jews, galvanized by their perception of a tolerant Spain, decided to undertake a major project to initiate negotiations with the Spanish state.

Semiorder is probably one of the most frequently ordered structures in science. It naturally appears in fields like psychometrics, economics, decision sciences, linguistics and archaeology.
