Spogliata delle preziose decorazioni di argento che ne arricchivano la coperta, la marz'cgola della Scuola di S. Cristoforo dei mercanti si apre con due belle miniature in fondo d'oro. La prima, a sinistra, offre il Cro cefisso con ai lati la Vergine l'apostolo S. Giovanni e quattro angioletti che stanno intorno alla croce; l'altra a destra presenta il martire S. Cristoforo che. Porta sugli omeri il Divino Infante e lo sostiene con la sinistra mano, mentre nella destra porta un bastone tutto fiorit.o Genufiessi a piedi del santo martire veggonsi quinci e quindi 1 fratelli della scuola, vestiti di lunghe tonache con cap pucao di colore rosso, giallo ed azzurro: nell' alto e scritto in gotico maiuscolo Sanctus Clzrzslofcrus mena/aram La marz'cgola che incomincia con un A maiuscolo in mezzo a cui rifulge un' altra volta il santo martire, giunge fino al 1521, e porta nel fine la serie degli' ascritti che ammontano a varid centinaia. Il primo fratello notato tra i nobili e Mcsz'er Vetor sanz' de San Fantin, nome illustre che ci richiama alla memoria una pagina immortale di eroismo e di glo ria che fa palpitare ogni cuore che ama Venezia e la patria.
