Parmi les cas de conflits armés et, plus largement, les situations politiques sud-américaines, le " cas colombien " révèle une complexité singulière, caractérisée par la durée et l'intensité de sa violence. La Colombie connaît en effet une prolifération de formes chroniques d'affrontements armés. L'impunité, l'exclusion sociale et la corruption sont les causes de cette dynamique destructive. Le conflit armé colombien commence entre la fin des années quarante et la décennie des années cinquante du XXe siècle. Cette période a engendré un glissement progressif vers la violence politique et sociale. A la tendance au discrédit de l'adversaire ou de l'opposant politique par la voie de la parole, a succédé son élimination physique, à un niveau massif, par la voie des armes. Le conflit pour la propriété de la terre a créé des milliers de déplacés parmi les petits cultivateurs, spécialement dans les zones de production du café ou celles des mégaprojets des exploitations pétrolières. Aujourd'hui, cette violence croissante est dirigée contre les secteurs civils de la société considérés comme attachés aux parties en conflit. L'appareil d'Etat et les groupes paramilitaires, d'un côté, et les groupes de guérilla, de l'autre, exercent leur action pour prendre le contrôle de vastes étendues de territoire. L'idéologie de l'intolérance s'est incarnée dans des pouvoirs étatiques et économiques, essentiellement conservateurs, qui considèrent les secteurs dissidents comme des " ennemis internes " en puissance. A travers le récit-témoignage de Maribel Wolf, directrice internationale de l'ONG Terre des hommes France, cet ouvrage montre, dans une première partie, comment les Colombiens vivent la violence au quotidien, mais comment aussi ils restent debout et gardent l'espérance d'une issue à la crise du pays. Dans une seconde partie, des experts colombiens nous présentent une analyse des principaux problèmes de la Colombie contemporaine. Cela donne un ouvrage riche et bien documenté, utile pour comprendre ce pays d'Amérique du Sud.

In the last decades, many countries in Latin America underwent a transition from dictatorship to democracy. Truth commissions were an essential instrument of uncovering politically motivated crimes and serious human rights violations. However, in many cases truth came without justice, perpetrators were not held accountable, and the reparations policy was rather restrictive. The authors of this volume address the issue from a transdisciplinary perspective. On the one hand, they focus on a past that is shaped by fierce conflicts but also by attempts of fostering reconciliation in the middle of conflict. On the other hand, they address a reconciliation that still lies in the future and has to do with justice.Their first part offers a collection of case studies that approach the topics of reconciliation and conflict resolution during and in the aftermath of dictatorship and civil war from different perspectives and academic disciplines. Their second part is dedicated to experiences with reconciliation, conflict resolution and migration from a global and comparative perspective.Several contributors reflect the Hölderlin perspective of "reconciliation in the middle of dispute". Other contributions aim to deepen our theoretical understanding of reconciliation by exploring the diversity of interpretations of the concept itself and elaborating the specific benefit of reconciliatory approaches for a sustainable peace. Two authors offer an in-depth analysis of particular conflicts, and one article deals with the influence of religion and culture on the social role of Brazilian migrants in Japan.
