El present estudi forma part dels projectes GUIDEWAY i PATHWAY i explora el rol de les identitats imaginades en l'interès envers l'anglès d'un grup d'estudiants d'educació superior. Es contextualitza dins del Grau d'Educació Primària en anglès (GEPa) ofert a la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, que incorpora la "internacionalització" mitjançant l'Aprenentatge Integrat de Continguts i Llengua a l'Educació Superior (AICLES). S'hi inclouen tres estudis més específics que estan estretament relacionats i que aspiren a: 1) analitzar els factors sociolingüístics que van influenciar la decisió dels estudiants d'estudiar el grau en anglès, 2) explorar com les comunitats de pràctica en anglès afecten les seves identitats imaginades i 3) descobrir com evolucionen les identitats canviants com a usuaris de l'anglès dels estudiants durant la seva participació en el GEPa. El marc teòric es basa en les teories postructuralistes de la identitat, el llenguatge, l'aprenentatge i el posicionament. Té una pes rellevant l'enfocament identitari de l'àmbit de recerca en Adquisició de Segones Llengües i, en concret, les nocions de identitats imaginades, comunitats imaginades i inversió desenvolupades per Norton, així com la idea de comunitat de pràctica (Lave & Wenger, 1991; Wenger, 1998). Així mateix, el treball de Bourdieu, amb els seus conceptes de parlant legítim, capital simbòlic i capital cultural, també juga un paper molt important (Bourdieu, 1977, 1986). Tenint en compte el context en què la investigació es duu a terme, l'estudi també es basa en la noció de internacionalització a casa (Nilsson, 2003). Aquest estudi qualitatiu pren un enfocament interpretatiu i de teoria fonamentada. Les dades es van obtenir en tres moments diferents, a través de qüestionaris, entrevistes individuals, entrevistes focals i biografies lingüístiques. En una primera fase, l'anàlisi es va dur a terme mitjançant els procediments analítics de la reducció de dades, la visualització de dades i l'extracció i verificació de conclusions preliminars (Miles i Huberman, 1994). A la segona fase es va realitzar una examinació exhaustiva de les dades utilitzant les eines de l'anàlisi de contingut i de l'anàlisi narratiu de les dades qualitatives, amb una triangulació contínua dels diferents tipus de dades recollides. Més concretament, l'anàlisi va consistir en tres nivells de codificació i categorització (Punch, 2005): codificació, "memoing" i desenvolupament de proposicions. Els resultats indiquen que les identitats imaginades dels estudiants són un factor clau en l'elecció del grau, així com en les seves inversions en la llengua. Aquestes identitats imaginades han anat prenent forma a mesura que els estudiants participaven en comunitats de pràctica en anglès. De la mateixa manera, les seves identitats com a usuaris de l'anglès evolucionen al llarg de la seva participació en el grau, un grau que esdevé particularment important en el cas de les identitats lingüístiques d'alguns estudiants. L'estudi pretén aclarir la naturalesa de les actituds que els aprenents de l'anglès en un context de formació de professorat tenen envers l'anglès i el rol que aquesta llengua té en la seva vida diària, així com també s'espera que contribueixi a entendre millor com les inversions en aquesta llengua afecten les identitats personals. Ser conscients de què és el que empeny els individus a voler aprendre aquest idioma a Espanya avui en dia pot resultar summament útil i constructiu per tal de promoure actituds noves i constructives envers la llengua a nivell administratiu, polític i educatiu.

These new translations of Bernat Metge’s Libre de Fortuna e Prudència (1381) into Spanish (verse) and English (prose) make this key early work by 14th-century Catalonia’s most challenging writer available to the wider audience it has longed deserved. As with Metge’s masterwork, Lo somni (The Dream), recently translated by Cortijo Ocaña and Elisabeth Lagresa (Benjamins, 2013), the writing of The Book of Fortune and Prudence seems to have been precipitated by a larger crisis in Catalan society, in this case, an all-too-familiar-sounding banking crisis. Drawing on sources ranging from Boethius, to the Roman de la Rose to Arthurian fable, Metge unveils the workings of the world through his two allegorical women, Fortune (good and bad) and Prudence, in a search for consolation in the midst of inexplicable reversals of fortune--those of others, and perhaps his own. But as in the Somni, Metge refuses here to offer pat solutions to the crises of his day, offering what is perhaps one of our earliest glimpses of the impact of new ideas coming from Italy in the Iberian Peninsula. The work is written in the popular noves rimades form (octosyllabic rhymed couplets) in the challenging mix of Occitan and Catalan common to verse writing in 14th century Catalonia. Cortijo’s and Martines’s tri-lingual edition, together with its fine introduction and notes, is an extremely valuable contribution as it makes this unduly neglected text of the later Iberian Middle Ages available for students and other readers in a broadly accessible, yet scholarly, form. El área de Historia Contemporánea de la Universidad de Castilla – La Mancha organizó entre el 21 y el 23 de septiembre de 2016 la XIII edición del congreso bienal de la Asociación de Historia Contemporánea (AHC). La Historia, lost in translation? consolidó y sometió a discusión y debate treinta y tres paneles, dirigidos por noventa y un coordinadores, que sumaron un total de cuatrocientos doce textos elaborados por cuatrocientos cincuenta y dos congresistas de diferentes nacionalidades. Estas actas recogen los resultados de treinta y uno de esos talleres, y doscientas ochenta y seis investigaciones. Después de trece ediciones, el proyecto bienal de congresos de la Asociación de Historia Contemporánea (AHC) puede considerarse un referente como pocos de la investigación, la producción de conocimiento científico y su divulgación.
